With Disney’s splashy ‘A Wrinkle In Time’ inching closer to reality, the studio is releasing more and more promotional material, including a new batch of stills, featuring the star studded cast which includes Oprah Winfrey, Mindy Kaling, Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and newcomer Storm Reid. The film, based on Madeline L’Engle’s bestselling YA novel, was directed by Ava DuVernay, who received accolades for her Martin Luther King biopic ‘Selma’. After that, she was highly sought by Hollywood for some major pictures. DuVernay passed on directing Marvel’s ‘Black Panther’ in favor of adapting this novel for parent company Disney.
So far, the trailers have been the lushest, most beautiful clips out there especially with the glittery reinventions of the three witches. And the film is receiving praise for its multi-ethnic cast and the fact that Reid’s Meg Murry is the focal character. That’s all on display here in these pics, plus more. Check them out below:
A Wrinkle in Time is the story of Meg Murry, a high-school-aged girl who is transported on an adventure through time and space with her younger brother Charles Wallace and her friend Calvin O’Keefe to rescue her father, a gifted scientist, from the evil forces that hold him prisoner on another planet.
Oprah Winfrey stars as Mrs. Which, Reese Witherspoon as Mrs. Whatsit, Mindy Kaling as Mrs. Who, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Dr. Kate Murry, Michael Peña as Red, the Man with Red Eyes, Storm Reid as Meg Murry, Zach Galifianakis as the Happy Medium, Chris Pine as Dr. Alex Murry, Levi Miller as Calvin O’Keefe, Deric McCabe as Charles Wallace Murry, André Holland as Principal Jenkins, Rowan Blanchard as Veronica, Daniel MacPherson as Paddy O’Keefe and Thomas Leigh as Sandy and Dennys Murry.
