Here we are once again bringing you an all-new Toy News Tuesday! We’re the one weekly column right here on ScienceFiction.com where we seek out all of the awesome news you need to know about any announcements and cool happenings in the toy industry and put them all in one easy to find place for you! We’re already at the halfway point in January and things are getting eerily quiet as we prepare for New York Toy Fair next month! This week we have some awesome new goodies from NECA, Jakks Pacific, Amok Time, Funko, and more! It may not be much, but there is still plenty of cool stuff to check out in the Toy News for the week of January 15th, 2019!
There Goes Tokyo
Later this year we’re getting a sequel to 2014’s American made take on ‘Godzilla’, titled ‘Godzilla: King Of The Monsters’, and we couldn’t be more excited about it! While we will certainly be getting some nice figures geared towards collectors, the team at Jakks Pacific is handling the film’s major retail toyline and this week we’re getting our first look at their offerings!
This major toyline for the film looks to include a healthy variety of scales and character options for fans who were let down by figures from the first film (which gave us lots of Godzilla and not much of anything else), with Rodan, Mothra and King Ghidorah in tow. You can check out the full listing of figures from ‘Godzilla: King Of The Monsters’ by Jakks Pacific below! The line itself is expected to hit stores in May just ahead of the movie.

NECA Previews Upcoming Releases
It would appear that the team at NECA is looking to start their 2019 off strong! This week they have released new images of a number of new products from several of their top lines including ‘Godzilla’, ‘ALIENS’, and the ‘Guillermo Del Toro Signature Collection’!
From their fan favorite ‘Godzilla’ toyline is the new ‘Godzilla 1962′ figure! This new Godzilla figure is based on the king of the monsters’ appearance in ‘Godzilla Vs. King Kong’ and will measure 12″ from head to tail! While a release date has not yet been set, this figure is expected in Q1 2019, so it should be releasing anytime now!
Next we have a fresh look at the upcoming ‘ALIEN 3’ Creature Pack! As the name implies, this is a new creature pack based on the movie ‘ALIEN 3’! Included in this set are the Queen Facehugger, the Baby Queen ALIEN Burster, and the Baby Dog ALIEN Burster! This set also doesn’t have a firm release date available yet, but we will keep you posted as more details become available!
And finally we have NECA’s new figure of Ofelia from ‘Pans Labyrinth’ as part of their ‘Guillermo Del Toro Signature Collection’! Ofelia is the third and final figure from ‘Pans Labyrinth’ that is coming our way, following both The Faun and The Pale Man. She is due to release sometime in Q1 2019, so she should be heading to stores very soon!

The Funko Forecast
Get ready for the Funko Forecast! This is where we’re going to be showcasing all of the cool new announcements and reveals from Funko! With all of the awesome that consistently seems to be flowing out of those guys, it shouldn’t be hard to keep this section alive each and every week!
In Specialty Series, No One Can Hear You Scream
This March Funko is celebrating the 40th Anniversary of one of the horror and science fiction genre’s most iconic films, Ridley Scott’s ‘ALIEN’! Their small retailer exclusive ‘Specialty Series’ line will be seeing a new addition in the form of a Metallic Blue ALIEN Xenomorph POP! Vinyl. While this is definitely an awesome addition to the ‘ALIEN’ line of Funko products, it’s a bit of a bummer to see this added to the ‘Specialty Series’ as figures in this collection are only available at small retailers rather than at mass retail. On the bright side, it’ll be yet another excuse to hit up your local comic shop when it releases in March!
Conan Is Back At Gamestop!
Coming soon exclusively to Gamestop stores are two new Conan O’Brien POP! Vinyls from Funko! Fans of the popular talk show host can look forward to ‘Folk Dancer Conan’ and ‘Luchador Conan’ from “Conan Without Borders”! There is no set release window for these just yet, but it’s likely they will be in stores later this month.
Funko Is Taking You To The Candy-Shop
In a move that has many in the collecting community scratching their heads, Funko has announced two new waves of POP! Vinyls based on… snacks?! Yes, Funko has new POP! Vinyls on their way based on the ‘Sourpatch Kids’ and ‘Peeps’ snack brands and they’ll be heading to stores in the next few weeks! For Sourpatch Kids you can keep an eye for Yellow, Red, Orange, and Blue variations, while with Peeps there will be Pink and Yellow wide released, with Blue exclusively available at FYE and Purple exclusively available at the Funko Shop!
And with that, we bring this week’s Toy News Tuesday to a close! What do you think about the new items announced this week? Do you plan on picking up anything we mentioned in this week’s column?
