Jeph Loeb, head of Marvel TV, had some interesting things to say this past weekend at WonderCon regarding future events for ‘Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’. It seems that he has long been keen on the idea of some cross-company events, namely trying to get the characters of ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ into the popular Arrowverse over on the CW. While speaking at Wondercon, it seems that the wheels might finally be in motion, now that ‘The Flash’ has introduced the concept of the Multiverse on the series, allowing Barry Allen and company to cross over into alternate dimensions, seen most recently when the Flash appeared on ‘Supergirl’ over on CBS.
It seems they are cooking up a story where Barry and Cisco wind up in the MCU, finding themselves in a world overrun with superheroes and Inhumans, with no way home. Inevitably the breach that allowed them to enter the MCU is investigated by Coulson and his team, who track down the rogue DC heroes and offer them aid in getting home, but only if they help contain a rogue Inhuman who shares speedster abilities similar to the Flash. Eventually, the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents will follow Barry back to the Arrowverse (on ‘The Flash’), helping to contain a new threat there that requires their expertise, and we might see Oliver Queen and company show up to check out the new arrivals.
To be sure, it is a crazy idea, as the companies do not often cross into one-another’s territories, but it seems Loeb and the creative forces behind the Arrowverse appreciate the success of their competitors on other networks, and know they are all tapping from the same audiences, comic book fans and science-fiction fans, and both sides see the benefits to their own ratings, and to promoting their own shows by allowing their characters to interact with one another.
As crazy as it sounds, it seems to be a “rumor” fit for April 1!
