Steve Buscemi is God. No, literally. The chameleon-like character actor, who is excellent in everything he does, is tackling his first sitcom, on which he will star as the Almighty opposite Daniel Radcliffe, who plays an angel named Craig, who works in the Department of Miracles. This is a seven-episode limited series coming to TBS.
This high-concept series was created by Simon Rich, a former ‘Saturday Night Live’ writer, whose previous series, the irreverent rom-com ‘Man Seeking Woman’ (based on his own collection of short stories ‘The Last Girlfriend on Earth’), ran for three seasons on FXX and Rich was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing.
Like ‘Man Seeking Woman’, ‘Miracle Workers’ is based on another of Rich’s books, the novel ‘What in God’s Name?’. In the book, Rich interprets Heaven as Heaven Inc., a corporation that experiences problems because its CEO, God, is preoccupied and plans to retire. In order to do so, he must do away with his biggest responsibility– the Earth and those dwelling on it. Radcliffe’s Craig and his fellow angel, Eliza, played by Geraldine Viswanathan, take it on themselves to change his mind. In order to do so, they must help two humans Laura (Sasha Compere) and Sam (Jon Bass) fall in love.

Buscemi took over the role of God from Owen Wilson who departed the project after a few months, due to creative differences. (Upgrade!) Both Buscemi and Radcliffe are also executive producing ‘Miracle Workers’.
The cast also features Lolly Adefope, Tituss Burgess, Margaret Cho, Angela Kinsey, Tim Meadows, Chris Parnell, and John Reynolds.
