Speaking about what the original 1980s cartoon series meant to him, Smith had this to say: I watched all of the TV series growing up, it was everywhere in the ‘80s. These characters started off as toys and ended up becoming part of the global pop culture fabric. So much of this show has been possible because of the love and affection for this world at every level of production and the fandom surrounding this franchise. A big reason we got such top tier voice talent is because people genuinely want to be a part of this world. So many of us were touched by these stories and these characters early in our lives […]

The Cast Of ‘Stranger Things’ Talks About What To Expect In Season 3! https://sciencefiction.com/2018/04/02/cast-stranger-things-talks-expect-season-3/ https://sciencefiction.com/2018/04/02/cast-stranger-things-talks-expect-season-3/#disqus_thread Mon, 02 Apr 2018 16:10:51 +0000 http://sciencefiction.com/?p=280925 The cast of Netflix’s smash hit ‘Stranger Things’ recently got together for a podcast interview, and a lot of fun info about the show’s first two seasons – along with a few tidbits about the upcoming third season – was discussed. Variety’s ‘Remote Controlled’ podcast featured a massive panel that included Executive Producer Shawn Levy and a slew of the show’s stars, including David Harbour (Chief Hopper), Winona Ryder (Joyce), Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Sadie Sink (Max), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas), Sean Astin (Bob), Joe Keery (Steve), Natalia Dyer (Nancy), and Charlie Heaton (Jonathan). Some of the highlights of the conversation include Levy talking about the show’s sudden rise to popularity in the public eye: “We made Season 1 in completely anonymity. We didn’t even have to work at it being a secret because no one cared! For Season 2, it was about going deeper in scope and even bigger in character.” Brown got to speak about the mystery behind her character, Eleven: “Everything happens so unexpectedly with her – [she is] difficult and deep. There’s no storyline behind her – yet.  I don’t know where [she is] from, so that’s an issue. [In Season 3,] I want a relationship with Max. […]

SDCC 2016: Here Are All The Best Quotes From The ‘Game Of Thrones’ Cast & Creators Panel https://sciencefiction.com/2016/07/25/sdcc-2016-best-quotes-game-of-thrones-cast-creators-panel/ https://sciencefiction.com/2016/07/25/sdcc-2016-best-quotes-game-of-thrones-cast-creators-panel/#disqus_thread Mon, 25 Jul 2016 19:00:16 +0000 http://sciencefiction.com/?p=223842 Although they obviously can’t give away too much info – mostly because lots of them don’t even know what’s in store next season yet – some of the cast of ‘Game of Thrones’ got together with creators/showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss to host a panel at San Diego Comic Con where they took turns guessing at what might be happening in the coming seventh season, as well as ruminating on their experiences on the show to date. Here are some of the highlights for you! We’ll start with Benioff explaining why the audience has to wait until Summer 2017 before the new season begins: “Winter is here, and we have to shoot in places where there are trees. We have to wait until leaves fall off. … There’s no way to get the show out there until Summer.” Sophie Turner was asked many audience questions throughout the panel, and she didn’t hold back her thoughts and opinions much.  When asked why Sansa didn’t tell Jon Snow that the Knights of the Vale were coming to assist in the “Battle of the Bastards” fight: “She wanted all the credit, and it was a more dramatic moment when they showed up. SDCC 2016: ‘Black Panther’ Gets A New Logo And Confirmation Of Several Cast Members https://sciencefiction.com/2016/07/24/sdcc-2016-black-panther-gets-new-logo-confirmation-several-cast-members/ https://sciencefiction.com/2016/07/24/sdcc-2016-black-panther-gets-new-logo-confirmation-several-cast-members/#disqus_thread Sun, 24 Jul 2016 14:00:51 +0000 http://sciencefiction.com/?p=224109 It was Marvel’s turn to shine at San Diego Comic Con on Saturday evening, and they are wasting no time with providing information to their fans, starting with 2018’s ‘Black Panther‘ solo film.  Marvel big-wig Kevin Feige was on hand to not only unveil a new logo for the movie, but also to introduce us to (some of) the film’s cast. Joining Chadwick Boseman in the title role will be an all-star cast that includes Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, and Danai Gurira.  Jordan, most recognizable to genre fans from his turns as Adonis Johnson in ‘Creed’ and as Johnny Storm in last year’s ill-fated ‘Fantastic Four‘ film (still can’t bring myself to type ‘Fant4stic’ without giggling and sighing at the same time), will be playing Erik Killmonger, a villain that has plagued Black Panther in the comics since his first appearance back in 1973.  Nyong’o will portray Nakia, a member of a group of Wakandan “bodyguards” (as described on stage – more akin to “royal wives-in-training” in the comics) who develops an unhealthy obsession with Boseman’s T’Challa when he romantically spurns her.  In the comics, Nakia is also spurned and is eventually used by Killmonger to exact her revenge, […]

Matt Bomer Joins ‘American Horror Story: Hotel’ https://sciencefiction.com/2015/03/16/matt-bomer-joins-american-horror-story-hotel/ https://sciencefiction.com/2015/03/16/matt-bomer-joins-american-horror-story-hotel/#disqus_thread Mon, 16 Mar 2015 21:00:35 +0000 http://sciencefiction.com/?p=178434 It has become something of a tradition for ‘American Horror Story‘ to make casting announcements during its appearance at PaleyFest, and this year was no exception. This year in particular gave us a pair of big announcements. First was that Matt Bomer and Cheyenne Jackson (both of whom have frequently collaborated with co-creator and showrunner Ryan Murphy in the past) will be joining the cast for the fifth season. Striking a more melancholic note, however, was the other major announcement, which confirmed that Jessica Lange (who has had a starring role in each of the horror anthology’s seasons to date) will not be returning. Reflecting on her time with the show, Lange said simply: “We had a great run.” Given the subtitle ‘Hotel,’ the fifth season of ‘American Horror Story’ was previously announced to feature Lady Gaga in a starring role. As is often the case, details about ‘Hotel’ are few and far between at this point. Indeed, the announcement that Bomer and Jackson will be joining Gaga brings the total number of confirmed cast members to three. Even series regulars like Kathy Bates and Evan Peters appear uncertain of whether or not they’ll return. And while the natural assumption […]
