Box office audiences can’t get enough of ‘Deadpool’ and now it looks like ‘Teen Titans GO! To the Movies‘ can’t either! In their latest marketing on Twitter, they poke fun at the fact that Deadpool was a direct ripoff of DC’s very own Deathstroke. Not only do the main characters find a fun way to antagonize their villain but poke fun at the Merc with the Mouth at the same time.
Here is the tweet where a set of “text messages” had it all play out:

Now, if you aren’t sure how Deadpool and Deathstroke are related to one another, I’ll take you down a quick trip on memory lane. In 1980 DC introduced the world to Slade Wilson, the mercenary, an assassin named Deathstroke. Flash forward 11 years, and Marvel gave us Wade Wilson who we all know as Deadpool. The two have quite similar names, codenames, professions, and outfits.
While Deathstroke was a bit more of a serious character, we’ve seen over the years that Deadpool is the living parody and thoroughly lays into the comedy even in his darker moments.
The recent trailer for ‘Teen Titans GO! To the Movies’ even had our heroes of Robin, Starfire, Beast Boy, Raven, and Cyborg thinking that Deathstroke was Deadpool when they went up against him. After he tried to clarify that, they’ve either been ignoring him or trolling him since that time.
Are you enjoying that DC is openly poking fun at their own character by using Deadpool as a reference? With the increased unofficial crossovers between DC and Marvel on both sides of the aisle, is the longstanding rivalry finally starting to calm down? Share your thoughts below!
‘Teen Titans GO! To the Movies’ will crash into theaters on July 27th, 2018 where we’ll see if any more ‘Deadpool’ references can be found!
