Despite his menacing epilogue scene in ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’, Michael Mando’s Mac Gargan will not become The Scorpion in ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’. In fact, it doesn’t appear that Mando is in ‘Far From Home’ at all, despite his name appearing on the movie’s IMDB page since production began. But the same was true of Michael Keaton and Laura Harrier, and it was just divulged that neither of them is in the sequel either.

As producer Eric Carroll revealed:
“Yeah, we did tease the Scorpion. And he is not in this movie. Nor is Michael Mando playing him.”
His phrasing seems a bit odd, in that it sounds like should Gargan return, that a different actor would be playing him, but perhaps he was just answering off the top of his head and simply phrased his statement awkwardly.
It may be best that Gargan and Adrian Toomes/The Vulture aren’t in this sequel, as Tom Holland’s Spidey will have his hands full with Hydro-Man and the Molten-Man, as well as Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal), who seems like an ally in the trailer, but comic readers know better.
A version of The Scorpion appeared on the big screen in the animated smash ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’, voiced by Joaquín Cosio.
Considering that most of ‘Far From Home’ takes place in Europe, it probably wouldn’t make a lot of sense for Peter’s New York-based foes to *just happen* to run off to Europe and *just happen* to be where Peter and his classmates are.

There is also the matter of the five-year time jump in ‘Avengers: Endgame’. Did Gargan get dusted? Or was he alive the whole time? What could have occurred during that time?
Hopefully, director Jon Watts and the producers will come back to that post-credits thread in an upcoming movie, and not just leave it dangling.
Other than ‘Homecoming’, Mando may be best recognized for playing Nacho Varga on AMC’s ‘Better Call Saul’.
Are you bummed that The Scorpion won’t appear in ‘Far From Home’?
‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ webs up movie screens on July 2.
