“This Is Just A Tribute”
NECA has been continuously working their hardest to keep fans of the ‘ALIEN’ franchise happy. They’ve kept their long running 7″ scale ‘ALIENS’ toyline alive for almost a decade now and there seems to be no signs of slowing down, with the announcement of two new figures this week! Both of the new figures are tribute figures based on character designs from the original ‘Aliens’ toyline from Kenner in the early 90s.
First up is Space Marine Drake, who sports 30 points of articulation and comes packaged with a smart gun and a removable double-bladed bayonet attachment. You can look forward to Space Marine Drake hitting stores in February 2020.
Their next announcement is a pretty big one- literally! NECA has officially announced the new deluxe Rhino Alien, which will stand a massive 10″ tall! This figure is inspired by the figure of the same name in the original Kenner line, but NECA has taken a few liberties to upgrade this figure for modern collectors. The Rhino Alien will be made of semi-transparent plastic and will feature full articulation, including an extending inner jaw! You can look for the NECA Rhino Alien to release in May 2020 for $39.99.
Collecting Is A *Snap*!
While movie fans have no doubt picked up their fair share of Thanos collectibles in the past few years, comics fans haven’t had quite the same luxury available. The team at Funko looks to be righting that wrong in the near future, as they’ve recently announced a new Previews Exclusive 6″ Super-Sized Funko POP! Vinyl of a comic styles Thanos! Thanos’s armor features a special metallic shine to it, and the figure itself is standing atop a pile of skulls as a figure base. To top things off, Thanos is posed in mid-snap to make your display really pop! You can look forward to Thanos hitting stores in May 2020.
“Control The Spice, Control The Universe”
Fans of classic science fiction will undoubtedly be excited about Funko’s latest reveal, a wave of POP! Vinyls based on Frank Herbert’s ‘Dune’! Two of the film adaptation’s most iconic characters appear in this first wave, with Paul Atreides and Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen! These are anticipated in stores in the immediate future, so keep an eye out for them this upcoming holiday season.
And with that, we bring this week’s Toy News Tuesday to a close! What do you think about the new items announced this week? Do you plan on picking up anything we mentioned in this week’s column?
