Anyone familiar with Lamorne Morris’s (‘Sandy Wexler’,’Barbershop: The Next Cut’) work on ‘New Girl’ is probably expecting him to head into comedy next, but that isn’t the case. The actor has just joined Sony’s production of Vin Diesel’s ‘Bloodshot.’ This isn’t a film that will likely be heavy on the amazing humor which many fans know Morris for.
In what will likely be an incredibly violent film, Morris is going to be able to show off his non-humor acting chops, and that is something to be excited for. He’s been able to express a fantastic amount of depth in ‘New Girl’ when the part has called for it so seeing him in a completely different role should be fun for fans.
The role we’ll be seeing him in is that of Wilfred Wigans who is “a young scientist who becomes Bloodshot’s unlikely ally.” The film is unsurprisingly a stab at building a franchise, and if the first movie is a success, Morris is attached for two follow up films as well.
Outside of Diesel, Morris will be joining a cast that includes the likes of Gonzalez, Sam Heughan, Talulah Riley, Alex Hernandez, and Toby Kebbell.
For those unfamiliar with Bloodshot, the character was created in 1992 and has had over 110 issues released at this point. He is an ex-soldier with no memory who has nanites in his blood which give him superhuman strength and a healing factor among quite a few other abilities. He starts off on a quest to learn who he is which later evolves into so much more.
Are you looking forward to seeing Lamorne Morris in ‘Bloodshot’? Do you think that he’ll be able to master the role of falling into an action film as well as he’s done comedy over the years? As a scientist do you think that Morris will have an action sequence in the film or will Bloodshot end up saving him at some point? Share your thoughts below!
