Toby Kebbell (‘War for the Planet of the Apes‘,’Fantastic Four’) is the latest to join the cast of the Vin Diesel-starring ‘Bloodshot‘ film. He’s signed on to act alongside the likes of Michael Sheen, Eiza González, Talulah Riley, Alex Hernandez, and Sam Heughan who are already attached to star in the film.
We’ll see Kebbell going directly up against Diesel’s Bloodshot as he is set to star as the villain Axe. He’ll be linked to Project Rising Spirit and the Harbinger characters and will be the primary person Bloodshot is up against. While there isn’t an “Axe” in the comics, there is someone named Ax who calls himself a computer wizard and can directly communicate with computers. This brings him into contact with high levels of technology that can give him further abilities such as nanites and Manowar’s armor. One version of the character actually kills Bloodshot in order to obtain his blood which is full of nanites that give him his unique powers.
While the names are similar, it isn’t immediately clear if this is the character which Kebbell will be playing. He could just be playing a super-powered Harbinger who likes to carry an ax. However, we’ll likely know more soon as principal photography is set to begin in July under producer Neal Moritz of the ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise.
