Last month, CBS revealed that a number of familiar faces from the pages of DC Comics would be joining Kara Zor-El in the upcoming series ‘Supergirl’ this fall. These characters included General Sam Lane, the Kryptonian warrior Non, and Justice League member the Red Tornado. Now, it appears that the show has cast the wind-wielding android and his creator. However, the announcement suspiciously lists the same actor for both roles.
British-Israeli actor Iddo Goldberg has landed the part of both scientist Dr. T.O. Morrow and his creation the Red Tornado. While Goldberg has appeared in projects such as ‘Skins’, ‘Salem’, ‘Run Fatboy Run’, and ‘The Tourist’, he is probably best known for playing Ben in ‘Secret Diary of a Call Girl’ opposite former ‘Doctor Who’ star Billie Piper.
Regarding his new journey into the DC Universe, not many details are available for Goldberg’s version of Morrow or Red Tornado. In the comics, the evil Morrow creates the android Tornado and somewhere along the line the robot fuses with a sentient wind deity named Ulthoon before becoming a hero and ally of such teams as the Justice League and Young Justice. It probably goes without saying that the character’s origins have been tweaked slightly from the source material, but here is all we know so far courtesy of Warner Bros. Television:
Red Tornado is the most advanced android the world has ever seen. Designed by scientist T.O. Morrow for the U.S. Army as the ultimate superweapon, he soon becomes sentient, posing a grave danger to National City — including the people Supergirl cares about most.
If I had to guess, the villainous Morrow creates the android in his likeness and somehow perishes. Left alone and unsure what to do in the world, the Red Tornado will probably team up with Supergirl after he is shown the error of his ways. Or something along those lines anyway. Regardless of how it happens, Iddo Goldberg will be introduced in ‘Supergirl’ as T.O. Morrow and the Red Tornado. Let us know what you think about that in the comment section.
‘Supergirl’ starring Melissa Benoist, Calista Flockhart, Mehcad Brooks, Chyler Leigh, David Harewood, Jeremy Jordan, and Laura Benanti premieres on October 26, 2015 on CBS.
