The first film grossed $856 million at the worldwide box office, making it’s profit estimated around $247 million and being one of the better financial successes of the 2018 theatrical releases.  Of course, here in 2021 we find ourselves in a slightly different world in terms of theater-going and in-person entertainment, so it remains to be seen how this sequel will fare on the big screens – and this uncertainly could possibly be part of what is holding Sony back from announcing an official release date for the film. Regardless, the movie itself seems ready to rock, and if the new trailer is any indication, Woody Harrelson is ready to wreak some havoc in the sub-titular role of Carnage, aka Cletus Kasady  Gone seems to be the curly-red wig Cletus donned in the credits scene of ‘Venom,’ […]

TV Review: ‘Doom Patrol – Frances Patrol’ (Season 1, Episode 11) https://sciencefiction.com/2019/04/27/tv-review-doom-patrol-frances-patrol-season-1-episode-11/ https://sciencefiction.com/2019/04/27/tv-review-doom-patrol-frances-patrol-season-1-episode-11/#disqus_thread Sat, 27 Apr 2019 17:38:08 +0000 https://sciencefiction.com/?p=324126   We are eleven episodes into ‘Doom Patrol,’ so I really shouldn’t be surprised anymore about how much this show can astonish with its impressive amount of character development.  But here we are, with another fantastic episode that goes to show that superhero stories can be about so much more than just punching and special abilities (although those certainly are present as well, which is nice).   WARNING: Spoilers for this episode of ‘Doom Patrol’ lie ahead, obviously.  If you haven’t seen the episode and don’t wish for any of its content to be spoiled for you, the time to turn back is NOW!   RECAP: The first part of “Frances Patrol” is a pseudo-continuation of the last two episodes, which have all shown the same event – the negative energy living inside of Larry coming out to connect Cliff and Jane so that she can come out of her coma – from different viewpoints.  In this regard, this week’s episode is the third of a three-parter, of sorts; this story’s action kicks off with the audience seeing what was happening inside Larry’s head while the negative energy had vacated his physical being. And it was very sweet: Larry is […]

Photos, Video, And Synopsis For This Week’s Episode Of ‘The Orville: Identity, Part 1′ https://sciencefiction.com/2019/02/20/photos-video-synopsis-weeks-episode-orville-identity-part-1/ https://sciencefiction.com/2019/02/20/photos-video-synopsis-weeks-episode-orville-identity-part-1/#disqus_thread Thu, 21 Feb 2019 00:27:13 +0000 http://sciencefiction.com/?p=317215 Thursday night brings us the newest episode of ‘The Orville,’ entitled “Identity, Part 1.”  As the name obviously implies, this episode will be a two-parter (at least), cliff-hanger style story.  According to Fox’s published schedule, ‘Identity, Part 2’ is scheduled to air next week, so at least audiences won’t have to wait too long to find out what happens. For their part in this week’s episode, Fox is being intentionally coy and mysterious about the plot details.  They have opted to not release a written synopsis of the episode, and even the trailer is vague – even though it certainly looks exciting: Odd, then, for an episode they want to keep under wraps, that Fox chose to release a whopping 27 promotional photos.  All are included below – and as one would expect, they also don’t give away much of the episode’s actual content.  You’ll have to tune into Fox on Thursday 2/21 at 9:00pm EST to see the episode in person – and as always, we will have a review of the episode for you here on ScienceFiction.com!

Discovery brings shocking news about Spock and dredges up past regrets for Burnham. Following the asteroid incident, Tilly struggles to keep a grip on her reality. L’Rell’s authority on Qo’noS is threatened.     View this post on Instagram   Seven signals appeared across the galaxy. New Episode 1 February. A post shared by Star Trek: Discovery (@startreknetflix) on Jan 26, 2019 at 10:01am PST OBSERVATIONS: Will this be the episode where the ongoing Spocktease finally ends and we get to see Ethan Peck in action? Two of the six photos below feature Michelle Yeoh’s return as the Mirrorverse Georgiou – could this episode be the beginning of the launching point for the new Section 31 series? Follow-up: when can we get ourselves some Number One action back on the Enterprise?  Surely CBS didn’t bring Rebecca Romijn in for the role to have her not be present through most of […]
