Five young people decide to take a road trip to a cabin in the woods for some fun and games when all of a sudden, horrible and horrific things start to happen to them. Think you know how the movie will play out? Then think again because this horror movie comes from the mind of Joss Whedon himself!
‘The Cabin in the Woods’ was co-written by’ Joss Whedon (‘The Avengers’, ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’, ‘Firefly’) and Drew Goddard (‘Cloverfield’, ‘Lost’, ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’) who have extensive experience in bringing a new twist to old stories. It also marks the directorial debut for Goddard. The movie is billed as a tongue in cheek thriller horror film on the much used “young people trapped in the woods” horror scenario.
Originally ‘The Cabin in the Woods’ was owned by MGM and was scheduled to be released in 2009 but when the studio went bankrupt, the film sat on the shelves until Lionsgate decided to bring it back out. The movie stars Chris Hemsworth before he made it big as the Norse god Thor, so it’s a little odd to see him in a small budget film as this one. But you can check out the results yourself in the trailer below!
‘The Cabin in the Woods’ stars Chris Hemsworth (‘Thor’, ‘The Avengers), Richard Jenkins (‘The Rum Diary’, ’Friends with Benefits’), Bradley Whitford (‘Robocop 3’, ‘Bicentennial Man’) and Amy Acker (‘Angel’, ‘Dollhouse’) and will be released in theaters on April 13, 2012.
