While she’s already had a few tours in space with the ‘Avatar’ and ‘Star Trek’ franchises, Zoe Saldana appears to be continuing her journey in outer space, but this time with Marvel Studios. The actress has been rumored to be joining James Gunn’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ for some time now, but it appears that negotiations have been finalized as she recently spoke about playing Gamora on the carpet for ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’.

In an interview with Absolute Radio, the actress shared her thoughts about her upcoming role in the only original property to come out of Marvel’s Phase Two. After touching on going green this time around after blue-ing herself for James Cameron, Saldana expressed her excitement to get started with the Guardians and gave a little insight into her process of research as an actress. Before heading off to the next group of press, she shares the bold prediction that her cast mate Chris Pratt is “gonna be an amazing Star-Lord”. For those unfamiliar with the character, Saldana will be playing the deadly assassin Gamora AKA “Most Dangerous Woman in the Universe”. Created by Jim Starlin in 1975 as the adopted daughter of the villain Thanos, Gamora turns on the Mad Titan after she murders one of his foes and sees that her “father” is the greater threat to the universe. Raised as a weapon of mass destruction, she now uses her enhanced Zen Whoberian physiology and unrivaled fighting skills to protect the universe from danger as a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Now that she’s officially on board for the film, the team is nearly complete. With Saldana as Gamora, Pratt cast as the leader of the team, Peter Quill, and former WWE Champion Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, that only leaves Rocket Raccoon and Groot as the remaining undecided members of the team. However, Gunn has teased that we should know who would be taking those roles in the coming weeks.
