Scarlet Witch Unleashes The Magic Of The Darkhold On The Marvel Universe

The Darkhold has a long and storied history in the Marvel Universe – both in the comics, where it was first introduced back in June 1972 in the pages of Marvel Spotlight #4, and in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where it has appeared canonically in ‘WandaVision’ and as well as the tangential TV series ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ and ‘Runaways.’ Before we see the book next on-screen – likely in next year’s ‘Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness’ – this Fall, Marvel Comics will feature the dark tome in a series of one-shot special-issue stories, featuring characters from across the pages of the company’s various titles. Written by long-time comics writer Steve Orlando, the tale will start with the self-titled Darkhold Alpha #1 before moving from character to character via their own special issues. Details of the story are being kept mostly under wraps, but Marvel does tell us that both the Scarlet Witch and Doctor Doom will try (and apparently fail to some degree) to contain the Darkhold from wreaking it’s magical destruction across the Marvel Universe. Welcome to the Comic Archive! There have been so many amazing stories, characters, and series produced from comic book publishers for almost 100 years now; this column will serve to celebrate some of the tales you may or may not know about. Each week, we’ll take a story arc or trade paperback/collected story from a non-new comic (three years old or further back), and discuss the details with you. Ah, the time-honored tradition of the crossover. In the pop-culture world, it’s a way – sometimes, fun and cheeky, sometimes dubious and world-threatening – of bringing together characters, properties, or worlds from two or more franchises to let them interact, collaborate, fight, etc. It’s usually an affair to remember – hopefully for the right reasons, because it was so darned cool, but sometimes it’s for infamous “OMG that didn’t work what the Hell were they thinking” reasons instead. “I’m giving you the chance to be a hero again. And not just to Gotham. The whole dang universe.” WARNING: Spoilers ahead! Obviously, since this is Part Two of “Crisis On Infinite Earths,” we will be touching on events that happened in Part One. After a tremendous loss to the first wave of Crisis, the heroes are in disarray. Though they want to mourn, circumstances don’t allow it; the antimatter wave won’t stop just so they can grieve. The Monitor refocuses the team on the next leg of their journey, including the news that to save the multiverse, the Seven Paragons, people who represent certain aspects of existence, must be found. With Kara tabbed the Paragon of Hope (it should be Superman but I get it, Supergirl actually has a show) and Sara is the Paragon of Destiny, five more Paragons remain to be discovered. The Monitor knows the mantle of the next two: that of Truth (who is another Kryptonian) and Courage (the Bat of the Future). Returning Again: Producers Confirm Brandon Routh’s ‘Crisis’ Superman As Continuation Of Christopher Reeves Movies Superman

With Brandon Routh set to reprise his role as Superman in the CW’s ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths,’ fans were both excited and somewhat curious about the role he would be playing. When Routh originally played Superman in ‘Superman Returns,’ he was taking over for Christopher Reeves, and the movie itself was said to be a continuation of the Reeves universe of movies with Routh essentially playing the same version of Superman. The movie did not fare all that well. No one blamed Routh for what happened as he was highlighted as one of the better aspects of the movie. Better Fate Than Never: CW Finally Releases Full ‘Elseworlds’ Crossover Trailer!

The wait is almost over for this year’s massive CW crossover event! ‘Elseworlds’ premieres this Sunday, December 9th with ‘Supergirl,’ followed by ‘Arrow‘ on December 10th, and lastly, ‘The Flash‘ will wrap up the event on December 11th with the final episode of the crossover event, which also happens to be the 100th episode of the series. To get fans ready and excited for ‘Elseworlds’ to begin this weekend, the CW has finally released a full trailer for the event (which you can watch below), which shows off just how crazy this is all going to be this year. The trailer reveals a lot of the life-swap that Barry and Oliver are going through, with both seemingly trying to convince their friends and family that they are not who they think they are, as well as some new moments where an emotional Oliver is talking to Barry about how his team abandoned him when he needed them, though whether he talking about Team Flash or Team Arrow it is not known. Line ‘Em Up: New ‘Elseworlds’ Clip Gives Us First Glimpse Of Monitor, John Deegan, And Dark Superman In Action

With this year’s CW ‘Elseworlds’ crossover event less than two weeks away, the network is finally giving us glimpses of some of the other characters set to be major players in the event through yet another new promo they have released. The latest promo (which you can check out below), is only thirty seconds or so in length, and while it does contain some footage of scenes that we have already seen (like that awkward kiss between Oliver and Iris after Barry and Oliver have switched identities), it also gives us our first look at The Monitor on screen (no pun intended), who is being played by LaMonica Garrett of ‘Designated Survivor’ fame. You can check out the clearest look at the Monitor (and a line of dialogue from him) around the :20 mark, where he is speaking to Arkham Asylum doctor John Deegan (Jeremy Davies of ‘Lost’), which is also where we get our best look at Deegan in the crossover so far. Leading Statements: Stars Of The Arrowverse Share Their Thoughts On This Year’s ‘Elseworlds’ Crossover Event

With all of the promos coming out to get audiences ready for this year’s crossover event on the CW’s Arrowverse shows, fans can now hear what the leads of 3 series involved, ‘The Flash,’ Supergirl,’ and ‘Arrow,’ think of this year’s event thanks to a recent article published by Entertainment Weekly. They touched on everything from the dynamic of only crossing over with 3 of the Arrowverse series this year (leaving out ‘Legends of Tomorrow’), the focus on the big three heroes (Supergirl, The Green Arrow, and The Flash), and the natural comedy of this year’s crossover due to Oliver and Barry having to spend some time living each other’s lives. ‘The Flash’ star Grant Gustin began by speaking on what it was like playing “Oliver Queen,” saying: “You’re not going to see me playing Oliver Queen’s mannerisms, or Stephen playing Barry’s mannerisms. Flash Of Skill: New ‘Elseworlds’ Crossover Clip Show’s Barry With Oliver’s Fighting Prowess

Similar to the last teaser promo released from the CW showing Oliver Queen waking up as “Barry Allen” and being kissed by Iris, the newest ‘Elseworlds’ promo now shows us Barry Allen awakening on a floor mat while sparring with Diggle in ARGUS. Apparently, this switch is right after he has just traded places with Oliver and Barry jumps up in time for Diggle to call him the “Green Arrow” and for Barry “Oliver” to deflect an attack from Diggle, revealing that Barry seems to have gained Oliver’s fighting skills as well as his name/ life. There are a lot of questions that are going to have to be answered here. First of which is: did Barry and Oliver switch lives simultaneously, and if so, was it some kind of magic, or time-travel, or was it the work of the Monitor, a character we know will appear in the crossover? Also, since Barry seems to have gained Oliver’s fighting abilities/ reflexes, can we assume Oliver gained Barry’s speed powers? CW Releases First Promo For the ‘Elseworlds’ Arrowverse Crossover!

The CW has released the first promo for their big ‘Elseworlds’ Crossover event coming up (December 9th!), and it is sure to get fans even more pumped up for what is to come. While relatively short, the promo has Oliver Queen waking up in the Allen apartment being made breakfast by Iris West-Allen, who kisses him and calls him “Barry Allen,” confirming for anyone who did not already see the set pictures that in the crossover somehow Barry and Oliver have switched lives, and giving us a very creepy example of what the episodes will be like for our heroes as they try to fit into their new surroundings. While it might be easier to imagine Barry and Felicity together (since it almost happened in Season 2 of ‘Arrow’), the thought of Oliver and Iris together is just weird, especially since they have shared so little screen time together. The Arrowverse Crossover Jumps Into The Multiverse With “Elseworlds”

Not only has The CW shared that their Arrowverse crossover this year would be titled ‘Elseworlds,’ but they’ve dropped a huge Easter Egg in the official poster hinting how it will potentially expand the already established Multiverse. For those unfamiliar with the ‘Elseworlds’ title, it is the equivalent of Marvel’s “What If?” line which basically gave alternate spins on existing worlds. While we don’t know if that will somehow be the plan for this event, we do know that they’ve also shared that “Chaos is coming” which can’t be good for our heroes. “Invasion!” and “Crisis on Earth-X” were fantastic crossover events but things look to be growing exponentially in this outing. The reason why is that LaMonica Garrett (‘Designated Survivor’) has been cast for the series as Mar Novu who is better known as The Monitor. They are describing him as “an extraterrestrial being of infinite power” who will have a “prominent role” during the event. Now, comic fans know a bit more about Monitors who have to observe the Multiverse and in times of significant crisis have to step in and intervene. Rob Liefeld Suggests He’ll Be Writing ‘X-Men’ For Marvel Again

Rob Liefeld hasn’t worked on the ‘X-Men’ or for Marvel Comics in years but that all might soon be changing. While he did work on ‘Deadpool‘ in 2010 and work on the graphic novel ‘Deadpool: Bad Blood’ in 2017, there hasn’t been much done with the main X-Men characters in years. Now that Disney has picked up Fox and the cinematic X-Men rights will be heading over to Marvel Studios, there has been a fresh injection into the X-Men properties behind-the-scenes and Liefeld is likely part of that. As to what has changed? According to the creator: “Here’s the deal. Since the X-Men movies came out and Disney didn’t have them, I don’t know if you’ve ever paid attention, but Marvel kind of turned the volume down on the X-Men for almost 20 years. Now that they have them more, what was told to me was, ‘Oh yeah. The trio of ‘Cloverfield Universe’ films have been widely different and only tenuously interconnected – but that seems to be the exact approach that production overseer J.J. Abrams is going for. The collection of films has many fans excited for the “off the beaten path” approach it’s taking, but others have become increasingly consternated with the whole process. In a recent Facebook Q&A, however, Abrams did outline the ideas that were on the table – and potentially may still be – about working to create a more direct connection between the films, in the form of a “crossover” of sorts featuring characters from the different movies. When the series returns with new episodes in just a few short months, ‘Fear the Walking Dead‘ will feature quite a significant change in its fourth season from its previous three: for the first time ever, the “little brother” series to the juggernaut ‘The Walking Dead’ will be directly crossing over with the original series, courtesy of the appearance of character Morgan (Lennie James) in a multi-episode story arc. In a recent interview, ‘Walking Dead’ creator Robert Kirkman – who also functions as an executive producer for both TV shows – spoke at length about the crossover, focusing specifically on the genesis of the idea: “When we started ‘Fear the Walking Dead,’ the original idea actually included some things that would eventually tie in with the other show. Flash Of Sound: Danielle Panabaker Claims There Will Be No Musical Episode This Season On ‘The Flash’

While not everyone is a huge fan of a major television series deciding to do a big musical episode, there are enough fans of the idea to keep it alive, and with stars like Melissa Benoist and Grant Gustin on your show (who just happen to come from talented musical backgrounds), fans were even more excited when ‘The Flash’ and ‘Supergirl’ decided to do a musical cross-over episode last year. In the episode, Barry Allen/ The Flash and Kara Danvers/ Supergirl were sent into an alternate dimension by the Music Meister (Darren Criss, of ‘Glee’ fame) where everyone sang and danced, and they were forced to learn some difficult lessons about their love lives. Again, the episode was not universally loved, but enough fans enjoyed it that many wondered if the shows were going to follow it up this year with another musical episode, and how they were going to top what they originally did, especially since the catchy songs are still available for purchase online now.
