Before the dawn of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the company saw success in two of three ‘Blade’ movies with Wesley Snipes as the pivotal character. Rumors continue to surface that this half human, half vampire hybrid could make a reappearance in either a film or more likely television but it hasn’t seemed to really go anywhere. While Blade could fit into some of the televised arcs, he would seem a bit off from the currently planned line of films that the MCU has been putting out.
That hasn’t stopped fans from wondering who could play The Daywalker if he returned, and one of those is Wesley Snipes himself. With Marvel Studios now owning the rights to ‘Blade’ when they also gained back ‘Ghost Rider‘ who was a clear success on ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,’ many have thought they would go that route again, but who could play him?
According to Snipes:

Yes, Snipes would love to reprise the role again. One would imagine that the studio with go with a fresh face for a new take on the character but as at least two of the films are still fan-favorites anything could be possible.
Marvel Studios head honcho himself Kevin Feige himself recently brought up the potential of bringing Blade back:
“We think it would be cool. Someday. My tenure at Marvel started 17 years ago, and there were two things that sort of launched the modern era. One was X-Men, which was the first thing that people said, ‘Oh, there’s life here.’ But a few years before that, there was Blade. A character nobody had heard of at all, had only appeared in a few issues of Tomb of Dracula or something, turned into a big franchise.
I think Blade is a legacy character now. I think it would be fun to do something with him one day.”
The one entertaining thing that could happen if Snipes was brought back would be to retcon the 1998 film into being the first official outing into the Marvel Cinematic Universe! Unfortunately, that would also require making the less loved 2002 release of ‘Blade II’ included and the nearly universally panned 2004 release of ‘Blade: Trinity’ as well.
Sorry, Snipes, I don’t see that happening.
