With the popularity of Snapchat, it should come as no surprise that their Snap Original project is already bringing shows to life in this format. For the horror fans out there we now have a trailer for ‘Dead of Night’ which actually looks surprisingly well put together.
I’m not going to lie, hearing that a Snapchat zombie series was happening had me rolling my eyes, but this trailer actually looked like it could be entertaining with only one glaring issue. Obviously, you shouldn’t expect ‘Zombieland’ level special effects but what they do deliver isn’t bad at all. They are pitching it as “providing a completely new perspective on the zombie apocalypse, ‘Dead of Night’ is more than just a show, it’s a unique breathtaking experience.”
The synopsis for ‘Dead of Night’ is as follows:
Armed with only her phone, a teenage girl must escape a quarantined city full of zombies. Shot in ScreenLife, exclusively from the point of view of the smartphone screen. Based on a Hooked story.
Now, to check out the trailer which was surprisingly fun! Just watch the video below!
The show was filmed in ScreenLife, and while I wish it wasn’t a found footage style shoot which is played off as happening in realtime, it was still enjoyable.
Of what we can expect from the show, producer Timur Bekmambetov added:
“Dead of Night marks a new milestone in the evolution of Screenlife. Producing for Snapchat and going vertical makes the story more immersive and acknowledges reliance on our phones and their essential role in our lives. And since subconsciously, we find footage captured by the phone more believable, our project will deliver a never before seen level of realism and dynamic to Snapchat users.”
‘Dead of Night’ will launch on Snapchat on September 14th and you can subscribe right here.
