Universal Cable Productions seems to be extremely happy with Grant Morrison‘s work on ‘Happy!‘ for Syfy and has just signed the author to an overall deal with their company. The bonus news coming with this is that his next project has already been announced and they’ll be tackling ‘The Invisibles’ together. This new deal will have Glasgow, Scotland native Morrison working on developing and producing original content for both television and streaming platforms.
Morrison’s ‘The Invisibles’ will be a story that should be quite easy to flesh out and keep running for quite some time, as Vertigo Comics had been running it from 1994 to 2000. The focus of the comics is a group from The Invisible College which is an organization shrouded in secrecy that battles against both physical and psychic oppression. To do this, they use magic to science to violence to meditation and even time travel. Needless to say, much like ‘Happy!’ this is going to be a different realm of entertainment from most comic adaptations and another breath of fresh air for viewers.
On top of this, Morrison is also involved with adapting Aldous Huxley’s science fiction novel ‘Brave New World‘ which is set 500 years in the future where it is mandatory to be happy, and everyone’s life is controlled through drugs, conditioning, entertainment, and quite a bit of promiscuity. Morrison is an executive producer and a writer for the series as well. This show has been in pre-development for a few years now, and last we heard was slated to head to Syfy as well.
