JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is one of the most well-known Japanese manga series of all time. Since its inception in 1987 as as serialized story in Japan’s Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine, the series has grown to an impressive array of adaptations that include video games, spin-off mangas, light novels, several animated TV series, and even a live-action film. One of the more surprising announcements to come out of San Diego Comic-Con last month was the revelation that a new season of ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars‘ is coming. And yet in some ways, it also made perfect sense. After all, the show has already had one season produced in the wake of its 2013 cancellation. More to the point though, the series occupies a beloved place in the ‘Star Wars’ canon. And while – like any TV series – ‘The Clone Wars’ is a team effort, one nonetheless has to acknowledge the importance of writer/producer Dave Filoni’s creative guidance to that success. With all of that in mind, Filoni is by his own admission keenly aware of the expectations that exist around any new ‘Clone Wars’ content (let alone what is being billed as the series’ final season). ‘Mystery Science Theater 3000’ Given A 12th Season By Netflix

After a highly successful Kickstarter campaign brought the show back to life for one full season on Netflix, fans of ‘Mystery Science Theater 3000′ got a Thanksgiving surprise during a live marathon: the show’s revival has been given a second season! This brings the show’s total season count to 12, and marks a vindication of sorts for Joel Hodgson, one of the series’ creators, who has been working with parent company Shout Factory to bring the show back to the airwaves. After Hodgson put the potential for a revival on the crowd-funded Kickstarter site, the response from fans was immediate and positive: seeking $2 million to make three episodes with an “ideal” target of $5.5 million to produce a complete 12-episode season, the campaign raised $5.7 million, and the work on the 11th season was officially on. The revived show features Jonah Ray as Jonah Heston, the hapless Gizmonics employee who is trapped by the “evil” Kinga Forrester (Felicia Day) and her sidekick, Son of TV’s Frank (Patton Oswalt), and is forced to watch bad movies alongside a duo of wise-cracking robots. First, Kris Marshall was rumored to be the front-runner to replace the outgoing Peter Capaldi as the main character of BBC’s long-running sci-fi series ‘Doctor Who’ – then Jodie Whittaker was announced as the actress for the role. Now, rumors have started swirling that Marshall will fill the role of the Doctor’s new companion – but how much truth is there to this claim? A rep for Marshall speaking with Yahoo UK has denied the claim, stating simply and directly: “There is no truth in the rumors.” Fair enough… but we were also told, back when there were rumors circulating about the Thirteenth Doctor being a woman, that there was no truth to those rumors as well – and now here we are, with a female indeed cast in the role (something I personally am very much looking forward to seeing play out on screen). Twisty The Clown Is Returning To ‘American Horror Story!’

‘American Horror Story’ has given us some awfully creepy images and disturbing characters over its six years on the air so far. Whether it was the devious witches in ‘Coven‘ or the deranged lunatics in ‘Asylum’ or even the supernatural spirits from ‘Murder House,’ there’s been no shortage of memorable portrayals on the show. Fans are usually in agreement, however, that one of the most memorable characters has definitely been Twisty the Clown, played to psychotic perfection by John Carroll Lynch in ‘Freak Show,’ the fifth season of the anthology series. While details and plot particulars for the upcoming seventh season have remained pretty tightly under wraps so far, series creator Ryan Murphy recently shared an image on his Instagram account that will have Twisty fans everywhere excited for the return of the deranged entertainer. Impending ‘Doctor Who’ showrunner Chris Chibnall, who will be taking over those duties from outgoing creative head Steven Moffat, has quite a daunting task ahead of him. The British sci-fi series has been going relatively strong since its re-introduction to the pop-culture masses a decade ago, but many fans and critics believe that the show has started to stagnate a bit in recent seasons. Chibnall believes that he was chosen to guide ‘Doctor Who’ to combat exactly that rationale. In a recent interview, Chibnall talked about the process behind his decision to assume creative control of the series. Chibnall was already intimately familiar with parent company BBC, of course, having created another of the channel’s popular series in the U.K., ‘Broadchurch.’ He spoke a bit about what the BBC seemed to be looking for in terms of the future direction of ‘Doctor Who:’ “[The BBC] really had to woo me. For as well as the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been doing lately, it’s sometimes hard for fans to remember that not everything that Marvel puts forth in its “shared universe” is a home-run. For a variety of reasons, sometimes films and TV series in the MCU just don’t land the way the company thinks they will. Take, for examples, the ‘Incredible Hulk’ feature film, or the way that ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ was almost cancelled after just a few seasons on the air, or the fact that ‘Agent Carter’ was in fact cancelled after only two seasons. The latter, of course, stung fans particularly hard. The series’ lead actress, Hayley Atwell, had quickly become a fan favorite ever since her first appearance in ‘Captain America: The First Avenger.’ And the show was left on a pretty big cliffhanger at the end of the second season; production parent company ABC tossed around the idea of continuing the show, but ultimately chose to cancel it, reportedly due to their desire to get Atwell into a more “mainstream” vehicle. Well, it’s short but sweet – and I don’t think fans would want it any other way. The hotly-anticipated return of ‘Twin Peaks’ after over 25 years off the air has lots of people intrigued. Series creator David Lynch has returned to pick up the story of the two-season supernatural drama, and as was to expected given Lynch’s eclectic history, information on what audiences can expect has been hard to come by. This trailer, in fact, is the first to give us any actual footage from the new series, following on the tail of a trailer last week that provided the actual first “still shot” looks at the new show. The series will be an 18-hour affair, with the premiere coming in a few weeks but the remainder of the season being held until August. So, who do we see in the trailer? Ryan Murphy Discusses The Opening Scene Of The Upcoming ‘American Horror Story’ Season

At the conclusion of the last season of ‘American Horror Story,’ series creator and creative mind Ryan Murphy was asked about the “theme” for next season; with ‘AHS’ being an anthology series wherein every season has a different setting, characters, and story arc, it’s a legitimate thing for the masses to want to know. Murphy didn’t disappoint, telling us that next season will, at least in part, be focused on the results of the 2016 American Presidential Election. In a recent interview with E News, Murphy elaborated a bit on what we can expect to see as the series opens. ‘The X-Files’ Confirmed To Be Back For An 11th Season

You can’t keep a good TV series down – well, unless you’re Fox with ‘Firefly,’ I guess. But hey, maybe Fox feels some remorse over this too-soon axing, so they are making up for it by giving 1990s hit sci-fi/conspiracy show ‘The X-Files‘ another go! Originally, ‘The X-Files’ ran from 1993-2002 on TV, with two theatrical films in the mix as well. Off the air but never truly forgotten, the show reached a sort of “cult status,” enough so that Fox made the call to bring the show back for a limited 6-episode revival in early 2016. Based on the success of that experiment, Fox has rewarded series creator Chris Carter with a 10-episode order for this new season to debut either this Fall or early 2018 on the network. In a studio release, Fox president David Madden said: “Iconic characters, rich storytelling, bold creators – these are the hallmarks of great TV shows. Steven Moffat Drops A Few Hints About How ‘Doctor Who’ Will Handle The Next Regeneration

As we discussed earlier this week, there seems to be a possibility that this season of ‘Doctor Who’ – a season which most fans expect to culminate in current Doctor Peter Capaldi’s regeneration during the Christmas special episode – could surprise us with the Doctor’s regeneration happening sooner rather than later. Clues have been dropped that indicate this possibility, most notably in the first teaser trailer for the new season, where the final bit actually shows the Doctor’s hand starting to glow gold in the familiar regeneration process. Also as we noted, that supposed regeneration could very well be a “fake-out” regeneration, similar to those that the previous two incarnations of the Doctor also went through before their actual full regenerations. After the first episode of this new season, however, we were given a short “Coming this Season on Doctor Who” teaser that further seems to show our good sir Capaldi heading for full regeneration a bit early: So, which is it? The end of another Doctor’s time is upon us. As ‘Doctor Who’ comes back from its extended hiatus, fans already know that this will be the “swan song” for Peter Capaldi in his stay as the Twelfth Doctor. This too is also the last season under current showrunner Steven Moffat, who has served as head writer and executive producer of the show for years but is now stepping aside to focus on ‘Sherlock’ and other projects. In his place, Chris Chibnall will take up the mantle – but not before Moffat works hard to send Capaldi out with a bang. If there’s one thing the 1990s TV series ‘Twin Peaks’ is fondly remembered for, it’s definitely doing things in an “out of the ordinary” type of way. A surreal, supernatural, dark-comedy type of “anti-soap opera,” the original series lasted for only two seasons but has found a major cult-status following since. Scheduled to reappear next month on Showtime, the series has dropped four new teaser videos. Sadly, these videos don’t feature any footage from the new series – but that’s to be expected from as quirky and secretive a creator as David Lynch. When your favorite show goes off the air, you get sad. When it comes back on the air after almost 15 years, you get excited again! When the new “season” is only six episodes long and is met with mixed results, you don’t know quite how to feel. Such is the saga of ‘The X-Files,’ resurrected by Fox earlier this year, previously gone off the airwaves after its original nine-season run starting back in 1993. The show’s future after the abbreviated revival seemed uncertain, but new information recently shared seems to support fans’ hopes that the show will indeed be back for more. Fox CEO and chairman Dana Walden recently held a conference call to speak with the press about the channel’s upcoming 2016-17 season and schedule; ‘The X-Files’ is obviously not on the upcoming docket, but Walden did field questions about the show.
