JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is one of the most well-known Japanese manga series of all time. Since its inception in 1987 as as serialized story in Japan’s Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine, the series has grown to an impressive array of adaptations that include video games, spin-off mangas, light novels, several animated TV series, and even a live-action film. Netflix has revealed that the newest iteration of the series, ‘Stone Ocean,’ will be premiering globally on the streaming service this coming December. Netflix Reveals The Second Trailer For ‘Ultraman’

The first trailer for Netflix’s ‘Ultraman‘ resonated with many fans and the new one is upping the action! In it, we’re introduced to the new heroes and villains of the series and are given a slew of action sequences which were barely teased in the first one. The new series isn’t a fully original concept either which will be a plus for fans of the source material. In Netflix’s ‘Ultraman,’ we’ll see an adaptation of the sequel manga which was penned by Eiichi Shimizu and illustrated by Tomohiro Shimoguchi. Also dropping with the new trailer is an updated synopsis compared to the one which was previously released: Ultraman’s next generation is here and its larger than life! Years ago, the famous giant of light Ultraman worked to protect peace on Earth. The Season 1 Trailer Is Out For The Animated Epic ‘gen:LOCK’!

Ever since it was first announced, the science fiction epic animated series ‘gen:LOCK’ has been putting together an amazing cast of genre actors to voice the characters. Now, at long last, the official first season trailer has been released! Starring Michael B. Jordan, Dakota Fanning, Maisie Williams, Asia Kate Dillon, Golshifteh Farahani, and David Tennant, this has one of the best lineups for a series to have ever been announced. The full Season 1 Trailer is out and you can view it right here! The series is slated to premiere on January 26th, 2019 on Rooster Teeth. For those unfamiliar with the platform, it is an app available on almost every major device as well as has a website you can stream from on RoosterTeeth.com. The streaming service costs $4.99 a month and above depending on the level of service you subscribe to. Netflix Releases Character Breakdowns For ‘Cowboy Bebop’ Live-Action Series

Netflix recently announced that it would stream a ‘Cowboy Bebop’ live-action series that is currently in development. Now, the streaming service has released character breakdowns, along with the descriptions of the actors they are looking to cast! ‘Cowboy Bebop,’ the 1998 Japanese anime series, earned a cult following from fans around the globe. The series was set in a future where traveling from planet to planet was an everyday thing and followed a group of bounty hunters traveling on the spaceship Bebop. In 2017, it was announced that a live-action adaptation of ‘Cowboy Bebop’ was in development by Tomorrow Studios. Netflix’s live-action ‘Cowboy Bebop’ will consist of ten, hour-long episodes and Chris Yost will write the script with Peter Friedlander and Kris Henigman serving as executive producers. If you aren’t a fan of the anime or manga, then there are probably a lot of questions about the world which ‘Alita: Battle Angel‘ takes place in and the latest international trailer tries to help with that. At least, they try to explain a bit of Alita’s origin for the upcoming movie and tease more of exactly how important she will be to the world. The last clip, “Ambush Alle,” showed off Alita’s impressive fighting skills and this 2-minute trailer shows how Alita came to be. A New Version Of ‘Ghost In The Shell’ Is Slated To Hit Netflix In 2020

Fans of the iconic ‘Ghost in the Shell‘ franchise have something to look forward to in 2020 as a new iteration of the series is slated to be released on Netflix! The streaming giant is continuing to push its upcoming anime slate after Hulu has made huge strides in continuing to dominate the market and original shows are their best bet into drawing in more viewers. The new series is titled ‘Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045’ and will be directed by some heavy hitters such as Kenji Kamiyama (‘Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex’) & Shinji Araki (‘Appleseed’). Fan-favorite Production I.G. will be collaborating with SOLA Digital Arts to bring this project to life. Production I.G. is known for having previously worked on all of the anime versions of this series. Not much in the way of details have been shared with the release date so far out, but Netflix is claiming that the anime will be “reborn” as a “next-generation animation film” which is being created in 3DCG. Hulu Inks A Deal With Funimation To Tackle Netflix’s Increase In Anime Output

We keep hearing about Netflix picking up new anime shows and with one fell swoop Hulu may have outdone their streaming competitor. Hulu has just signed an agreement with Sony Pictures Television’s Funimation on a multi-year partnership. This will not only drastically increase the amount of anime that Hulu has available but will also increases the early access it will have on future distribution. In some cases, it will make the streaming service the co-exclusive premiere destination to new subtitled anime hits on the same day and date with the worldwide premiere in Japan! Hulu and Funimation already had the exclusive release destination for shows such as ‘My Hero Academia,’ ‘Attack on Titan’, and ‘Tokyo Ghoul.’ This new deal will expand their reach and what they can stream to the world. According to Gen Fukunaga, President, and CEO at Funimation: “This expansive agreement, which symbolizes both companies’ shared commitment to anime, along with the support of SPT, further cements Funimation’s position as a global leader in anime distribution. Get Ready For More Anime On The Big Screen As Crunchyroll Has Partnered With Fathom Events

In what should be exciting news for anime fans, Crunchyroll has partnered with Fathom Events to bring more feature films to the big screen! We’ve been lucky to get some of the larger anime releases to have limited runs over the years, and now that number is going to be increasing. The idea is that we’re going to be getting a year-long set of Crunchyroll Movie Night events that will have over 500 theaters involved across the United States! It isn’t clear how many of these we’ll be getting quite yet, but the bare bones minimum is four in 2019 with the numbers likely going up if there are enough people attending these events. Things will kick off on January 5th, 2019 where an exclusive first-look screening of ‘Mob Pyscho 100’s second season premiere is being released two days before the official Japanese broadcast. A new report claims to have revealed the overall plot of Netflix’s upcoming live-action ‘Cowboy Bebop‘ series! As this is coming from outside of an official Netflix announcement it, of course, has to be thought of as a rumor though it is a pretty in-depth one. If this does prove to be true, it looks like we’ll be getting elements from both the first episode of the anime and the feature film mixed for the pilot episode. You can read the details below from Splash Report‘s resident TV expert: I’m a huge fan of Cowboy Bebop. Like, a MASSIVE fan. I have seen the anime probably half a dozen times all the way through and the movie a handful of times. It is easily my favorite anime series. New ‘Blade Runner’ Anime Series Being Developed For Adult Swim

We already know that Alcon had teamed up with ‘Titan Comics‘ to give us a new ‘Blade Runner’ book and now the company is expanding beyond that with an anime series. The series, called ‘Blade Runner — Black Lotus,’ will consist of 13 episodes which will air on Adult Swim in the US. There isn’t much known about the new series, but it will serve as a prequel to the most recent film ‘Blade Runner 2049‘ and take place in 2032. The plan is to include new characters and some already familiar to audiences who have seen both movies. According to senior VP/creative director of Adult Swim on-air Jason DeMarco: “I first saw Blade Runner in 1982, at age 11. It has remained one of the defining films of my life. To be able to explore more of this universe, with the incredible talent we have on board, is a dream come true.” There will be some great talent behind the camera as well. Animation studio Sola Digital Arts is set to produce the series and has tapped Shinji Aramaki and Kenji Kamiyama (of the upcoming ‘Ghost in the Shell’ reboot) to direct the episodes. The latest trailer for ‘Alita: Battle Angel‘ has had a side-by-side comparison to the original and it would appear that the eyes everyone has been talking about have gotten a makeover. The look of the central character has been more humanized, and while her eyes are still a bit larger, their closer to what you’d expect to see and her flesh tone has changed as well. You can see the change in the look below. Long after his tenure at Marvel Comics, we know that Stan Lee has still been creating characters over the years. While much of his work came out of POW! Entertainment in recent years, the flow of ideas never stopped for Lee. While the world mourns his passing, many fans are trying to read and see as much of his work as they can. Two of his projects which many may not have checked out were the anime series ‘Heroman’ and ‘The Reflection.’ Both of these shows are legally available through streaming services online, though ‘Heroman’ only has one outlet you can view it on. As for the shows themselves, ‘Heroman’ was released in 2001 and the plot was created by Lee with characters designed by Tamon Ohta. The show was produced through Studio Bones and followed Joey who is a kid living with his grandmother and working a minimum wage job. While the big-eyed visuals might take some getting used to, the third and final trailer for ‘Alita: Battle Angel’ looks absolutely spectacular. The initial announcement of James Cameron moving from director to just the producer of the film had me worried, but it looks like Robert Rodriguez might be delivering a live-action take of the anime and manga that will be a fun watch for everyone who enjoyed the original works. This new trailer delivers more on both what the film will look like as well as gives a better understanding of the plot. You can check out the trailer right here! Outside of the fantastic fight sequences, we’re also getting our first look at Jennifer Connolly and Jackie Earle Haley in the film though it isn’t clear how important their supporting characters will be quite yet. Much like video game adaptations, Hollywood would love to find a live-action take on a manga or anime that will resonate with Western audiences and the next take on the idea will be ‘My Hero Academia.’ While we’re all hoping that ‘Alita: Battle Angel‘ could pave the way that both ‘Ghost in the Shell‘ and ‘Death Note‘ wasn’t able to do, we’re already seeing Legendary Pictures looking to give us a new take on this iconic manga series. For those unfamiliar with the manga, many aspects feel to be taken directly out of the pages of other properties. The world has 80 percent of the population suddenly developing powers which are called quirks. This has created a slew of heroes and villains in the world, and we’re put in the shoes of one boy who is stuck as ordinary but is obsessed with those who have powers.
