Stranger Things 4 Is Reportedly Adding Four New Male Characters
Netflix

SPOILER ALERT: If you have not yet seen ‘Stranger Things 3’, you may wish to turn back now or proceed with caution, as this article contains SPOILERS.

Move over Robin.  Some new characters are being introduced in ‘Stranger Things 4’.  Following the events of Season 3, the cast is short a few male characters, so four new ones are coming aboard.  Three of them are teens, and one is an adult.  One of the teens is a metalhead, one is an entitled jock, and one is described by TV Line as sounding “an awful lot like the twin of Fast Times at Ridgemont High stoner Jeff Spicoli.”  The adult character is said to likely be part of a storyline a “far, far away from Hawkins”– in other words, Russia.  (Oh, I guess it was still called the Soviet Union back then.)

The metalhead and entitled jock sound like they could be replacements for Billy (Dacre Montgomery).  Billy was a metalhead, and appeared to be pretty good at basketball, and presumably swimming, since he was a lifeguard.  He certainly wasn’t entitled, but Steve kind of was.  If you recall, Steve (Joe Keery) was originally an entitled jerk and bully, before the show’s creators decided to redeem him and make him more likable.  In a sense, Billy was a replacement for Bully Steve, and now these two new characters are replacing Billy.

It’s not a given that these new teen characters will live in Hawkins.  The Byers and Eleven left town at the end of Season 3, so they may encounter some new faces wherever they wind up.

In late September, the Duffer Brothers signed an overall development deal with Netflix, which included a guarantee for Season 4.  (Let’s face it, if the Duffer Brothers said they wanted to produce 20 seasons, Netflix would say yes.  But the Brothers have stated that four or five seasons is the max.)  The new season is expected to consist of eight episodes, and filming is expected to begin in January and reportedly run through August.  That sounds like a long time to shoot eight episodes, so we’ll see.

What do you hope to see in ‘Stranger Things 4’?
