We’ve known for awhile that Kevin Smith (‘Mallrats’,’Chasing Amy’) was going to be directing an episode of the third season of ‘The Flash‘ and have just learned that it will be titled “Killer Frost“. In the second season, he directed “The Runaway Dinosaur” and it looks like the show couldn’t outrun his fandom to return to the director’s chair. “Killer Frost” will be the seventh episode of the upcoming season.
The series introduced Killer Frost as a metahuman on Earth-2 and doppelganger of Caitlin Snow who on Earth-1 is Barry Allen’s friend. When she last appeared she ended up being betrayed by Zoom and had an icicle which she fired thrown back at her and piercing her stomach. This either means that “Killer Frost” didn’t end up bleeding out as implied or that the Earth-1 Caitlin Snow is going to undergo a complete mental makeover. So, Earth-2 Killer Frost is still alive, Earth-1 Caitlin has a change of heart, there is a Killer Frost in the “Flashpoint” timeline, or when that story arc is over we either end up on an Earth-3 OR the Earth-1 timeline is still messed up.
Dealing with time travel and multiple Earths make the possibilities nearly endless!
We learned the episode of the title when Greg Berlanti shared the following image:

It looks like once again, The CW is planning on putting Barry in over his head. No word yet if he plans to bring back Jason Mewes in another cameo.
Are you looking forward to the return of Killer Frost? How and why do you think she’ll be returning? Share your thoughts below!
