Heroes Of The CW Suit Up In 10 New DC Fandome Posters

Next weekend, DC Comics (an AT&T/WarnerMedia subsidiary) will hold its first-ever virtual fan convention, DC Fandome, and in anticipation of that event, The CW has released posters showcasing its slate in DC shows. Newcomers ‘Stargirl’ (Brec Bassinger) and ‘Superman & Lois’ (Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch) are included along with Cress Williams (Black Lightning/Jefferson Pierce) from ‘Black Lightning’, Grant Gustin (The Flash/Barry Allen) and Candice Patton (Iris West-Allen) from ‘The Flash’, and Melissa Benoist (Supergirl/Kara Danvers) and Nicole Maines (Nia Nal/Dreamer) from ‘Supergirl’. It’s interesting that Patton and Maines get their own posters, when they are supporting castmembers, while The CW’ real ensemble show, ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ only gets one poster, depicting Caity Lotz as White Canary/Sara Lance. But the strangest inclusion is the poster for ‘Batwoman’. In May, the show’s lead, Ruby Rose, quit the show. She has since been replaced by Javica Leslie, but due to COVID-19, it doesn’t appear that production has resumed on any of these shows, and Leslie may not have even done a costume fitting yet. ‘Superman & Lois’ is set to join the lineup of DC shows on The CW in January, and one half of this duo is getting the spotlight in a new poster. Elizabeth Tulloch portrays Lois Lane, the legendary reporter, and the breadwinner in this family dynamic, as Clark Kent (Tyler Hoechlin) has been recently laid off from the Daily Planet. Tulloch is just the latest to portray the famous comic book character, joining a list that includes Noel Neill, Phyllis Coates, Margot Kidder, Teri Hatcher, Erica Durance, Kate Bosworth, and Amy Adams. “Real Heroes Wear Masks” tout a new series of posters from The CW featuring some of the stars of its DC Comics-inspired shows. Okay, so these are just photoshopped versions of previously released promo images, but they’re a fun way to hopefully help curb the spread of COVID-19. The posters feature ‘Black Lightning’s Cress Williams, ‘The Flash’s Grant Gustin, ‘Legends of Tomorrow’s Caity Lotz, and ‘Supergirl’s Melissa Benoist, as well as Tyler Hoechlin as Superman, star of the upcoming ‘Superman & Lois’ plus Brec Bassinger, the lead on ‘Stargirl’, another DC show, but one that is not part of the Arrowverse. Yes, there is one glaring omission: Batwoman. Ruby Rose shockingly quit that series in May. And while her replacement, Javica Leslie, was hired last month, she would not have had time to suit up and do a photoshoot. (Although that would’ve been cool, and a big scoop!) Ray Fisher didn’t spend all of his time during Justice Con trashing Joss Whedon. Fisher has been a vocal advocate for ‘Justice League’s original director Zack Snyder, who previously helmed ‘Man of Steel’ and ‘Batman V Superman’. ‘Man of Steel’ did okay, but ‘Batman V Superman’ was loudly decried for being a terrible movie that was too dark (among other flaws). But Fisher thinks this was what the ocean of superhero movies needs. “For me personally, I need something new. I need something that speaks to the way the world is today, not this idealized sort of yesteryear version of who these individuals are. The world is complicated. The heroes need to be just as complicated to help people deal with the circumstances that we’re facing every single day… If an alien with superpowers came down to Earth today do you think people would be like, ‘Yeah, come on let’s go!’? Though there aren’t any details yet, a virtual table read of George Miller’s aborted ‘Justice League: Mortal’ will be held for charity. Along with ‘Superman Lives’/’Superman: Flyby’, ‘Batman Unchained’, and ‘Super Max’ (starring Green Arrow), this is one of those potentially great DC Comics movies that never got made, although its basic plot has been public knowledge for years now. In 2015, filmmaker Ryan Unicomb announced plans for a documentary that would delve deep into this unmade film, but it failed to materialize. Earlier this year, Unicomb announced that production on the doc would resume, under a new title, ‘Seven Friends: George Miller’s Justice League’. But until then, this table read may suffice if you’ve ever had any questions about this project. Okay, well… I’ve tried to be positive about this, buuuut… DC Universe has ceased offering annual memberships. This can really only mean one thing– DC Universe won’t be around for another year. The writing has been on the wall for a while. DC Universe’s original series are steadily being “shared” with other outlets with ‘Stargirl’ also airing on The CW, soon to be joined by ‘Swamp Thing’, while ‘Doom Patrol’ is also available on HBO Max, with ‘Harley Quinn’ joining it in a couple of weeks. Word arrived weeks ago that ‘Stargirl’ was moving entirely to The CW and would no longer be offered on DC Universe. The CW, DC Universe, and HBO Max are all owned by parent company WarnerMedia, and many have speculated that with the launch of the bigger, more expansive streaming platform, HBO Max, that DC Universe’s days were numbered. They were right. DC Universe, which costs $7.99 a month, was said to be shifting its focus to digital comics and news. Henry Cavill’s Superman Will Reportedly Take On A Hulk-Like Role In Future DC Movies

Last year, Henry Cavill declared that he wasn’t finished with the role of Superman, the Man of Steel, in Warner Brothers’ live-action theatrical franchise based on the superheroes of DC Comics. This news comes shortly after the reveal that HBO Max would finally “Release the Snyder Cut” of the box-office disappointment ‘Justice League’, in which Cavill starred, following ‘Man of Steel’ and ‘Batman V Superman’. A stunt double stood in for Cavill for a cameo in last year’s ‘Shazam!’, fuelling rumors that Cavill would not be seen in the famous red and blue suit again. But it is now being reported that Cavill is in active talks to reprise the role, but oddly, it won’t be in another solo picture or even another ‘Justice League’. As Deadline reports, the plan moving forward is for Cavill’s Superman to return in supporting roles in movies focusing on other DC characters, in a role that is compared to Disney/Marvel Studios’ handling of Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk. ‘Justice League: The Snyder Cut’ Will Become A Reality On HBO Max!

Perhaps the longest fan social media campaign ever has finally paid off, as Warner Brothers will release “The Snyder Cut” of the box office disappointment ‘Justice League’ via HBO Max. Zack Snyder himself made the bombshell announcement following a Vero Watch Party for one of his other WB DC movies, ‘Man of Steel’. Warner Brothers will spend an additional $20-30 million on “The Snyder Cut” for added special effects, score, and editing. It doesn’t appear that any reshoots will be done, even though Snyder reportedly had plans for some additional scenes which were not filmed, for instance, a Martian Manhunter cameo. However, it is believed that some of the cast will be brought back to record some new dialogue. “The Snyder Cut” will be released in 2021 and will allegedly be four hours long (!) or may be broken up into a six-hour miniseries (!!). ‘Superman & Lois’ Adds Inde Navarrett And Wolé Parks To Its Cast

The CW’s next DC superhero series, ‘Superman & Lois’ has added two new regular cast members. Wolé Parks will portray “The Stranger” who appears to be the villain of the first season, while Inde Navarrett will portray Sarah Cushing, the daughter of Clark Kent’s high school friend, Lana Lang, and firefighter Kyle Cushing, portrayed by Emmanuelle Chriqui and Erik Valdez, respectively. Sarah is described as a “whip-smart, super cool wild child with some demons in her past who becomes friends with the Kent boys, Jonathan and Jordan.” She is sure to have a lot of demons, as reportedly, Kyle is an alcoholic, and a year prior to the events in the first episode, Lana tried to commit suicide! (At least that is the buzz at this time. Things could change.) The Entire Arrowverse Along With The Rest Of The CW’s New “Fall” Lineup Has Been Pushed To 2021

While most folks have held out hope that things would be back to normal soon, the effects of COVID-19 continue to escalate and The CW is the first network to announce that the usual fall TV rollout will not happen as usual this year. The main problem is that most shows had to cut their current seasons short, so there are still multiple episodes of ‘Batwoman’, ‘The Flash’, and ‘Supergirl’, as well as ‘Riverdale’, ‘Legacies’, and ‘Supernatural’ (which is in its FINAL season), that were left unfilmed. Luckily, ‘Black Lightning’ and ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ were completely wrapped before shutdowns went into effect. Hopefully, the unfilmed episodes will be completed and aired this year, because The CW has declared that its new season won’t begin until at least January 2021! ‘Superman & Lois’ has added Erik Valdez to its cast in the role of Kyle Cushing, Lana Lang’s fireman husband and the father of their two daughters, Sarah and Sophie. Via Deadline: Valdez’s Cushing is Smallville’s fire chief and local hero who’s seen his fair share of tragedy. Small town raised with small-town beliefs, Kyle doesn’t care much for the big city and often butts heads with people that come from it. But he may not be the wholesome all-American boy he sounds like in this description. In an earlier character description, which may or may not be accurate, it stated that Kyle is also a massive alcoholic. Even darker, that description indicated that Lana had tried to kill herself a year before the events of the first episode. Emmanuelle Chriqui will portray Lana. Emmanuelle Chriqui Lands The Role Of Lana Lang On ‘Superman & Lois’

While most Hollywood productions are shut down for the time being, behind the scenes, things on The CW’s upcoming ‘Superman & Lois’ continue to progress. The series has cast Emmanuelle Chriqui in the role of Lana Lang, Clark Kent’s high school girlfriend. In this new version, Lana is still a resident of Smallville and works as a bank loan officer at Smallville Bank. She is married to a fireman named Kyle Cushing, but he has a dark side– alcoholism. Lana has also been through the wringer and a year prior to the start of the series, she attempted to take her own life. Lana and Kyle have two daughters, Sarah and Sophie. According to early reports, Sarah is described as being 14 years old, and Sophie is 8. Those ages may not be accurate, as Clark and Lois were described as having twin 13-year-old sons, Jonathan and Jordan, but the actors cast to play them are older.
