Hasbro is recalling its “Trolls World Tour Giggle and Sing Poppy” doll from toy shelves after over 160,000 individuals signed an online petition protesting it. The petition was created by Jessica McMains and directed toward Walmart, Target, Amazon, and other retailers, hoping to call attention to the doll which she and others consider offensive. Why? Well, the doll is designed to giggle when she is seated, but the sensor that activates this mechanism is located… under her skirt and between her legs. … Uhhh… ARE YOU F*&^ING KIDDING ME?! HOW DID THAT GET MADE IN THE FIRST PLACE?! THEY REALLY HAD TO BE TOLD THAT THIS WAS “BAD?!” IT TOOK 160,000 SIGNATURES BEFORE THEY REALIZED THAT THIS WAS A POORLY DESIGNED TOY… FOR CHILDREN?! Disney Cancels Star Wars Celebration 2020; Reschedules For 2022

The Force isn’t with us this year (which should be quite obvious at this point). 2020’s Star Wars Celebration has been canceled. The event was set to take place at the Anaheim Convention Center on August 27-30. It has been postponed until August 18-21, 2022, but will remain at the same venue. It has traditionally not been an annual gathering, which is why the delay is for two years, and there was one just last year. The first Star Wars Celebration took place in April-May 1999 and has spread to include local conventions in Europe and Japan. Unlike, say, San Diego Comic-Con, Star Wars Celebrations float around to different locations, allowing for more fans access. This is the first one to ever be canceled. Those who purchased tickets to this year’s show have the option of obtaining a refund or rolling their tickets over to the 2022 gathering. Those that pre-ordered exclusive merchandise can choose to either still receive it or request a refund. (Who would do that?!) Star Wars Day 2020: May The Fierce Be With You – Mattel Unveils Four New ‘Star Wars’ Barbie Dolls

Mattel and Disney are teaming up again for a second assortment of glamorous, high-fashion Barbie dolls inspired by ‘Star Wars’ (“Star Wars x Barbie”). The first series, announced last August, is now available in stores for the MSR price of $100 each. Those dolls were inspired by Darth Vader, R2-D2, and Princess Leia. The new assortment consists of four dolls based on Rey, C-3PO, Stormtroopers, and Chewbacca. The Chewbacca is a deluxe doll– thanks to all that faux fur– so it retails for $150. The dolls are now available to preorder. As you can see, these aren’t doll versions of the classic ‘Star Wars’ characters, but rather dolls that use the movie characters as inspiration for avant-garde designs. Netflix’s groundbreaking and critically-acclaimed animated series ‘She-Ra and the Princesses of Power’, from Dreamworks Animation, is getting ready for one final battle. The show’s fifth and last season will be released on May 15, and the streaming service has unleashed a trailer that captures the ominous tone of the new episodes. In the fourth season, it appeared that Adora had permanently lost access to the powers of She-Ra, after her mystic sword was shattered. Meanwhile two of her one-time best friends, Catra and Glimmer have been isolated aboard Horde Prime’s interdimensional ship. Moreso even than Adora, Catra has struggled to find her place throughout the run of the series, as she has found herself betrayed by nearly everyone around her, including Adora. During these trying times, some folks are still struggling to bring you entertainment while many are self-quarantining, and the Nacelle Company is among them. Having already delivered the infinitely binge-able docuseries ‘The Toys That Made Us’ and ‘The Movies That Made Us’ to Netflix, the Nacelle Company is working on a new series focusing on vintage toy stores across the country. The first season will consist of ten 30-minute episodes, which will “show the history of these stores, what they sell, how they keep their shelves stocked with unique items and how they are navigating such a specific market.” (via Deadline) The subject of the first episode will be Billy Galaxy Vintage Toys and Collectibles in Portland Oregon. The shop’s owner, Billy Galaxy (!) stated: “The Nacelle Company has taken a personal interest in the livelihoods of toy dealers across the globe. Toy Fair 2020: Wicked Cool Toys Enters The Fight With ‘Halo’

In a fairly unexpected move, last fall the team at Wicked Cool Toys (a recently acquired subsidiary of Jazwares) recently announced that they had taken over the master toy license for the iconic ‘Halo’ video game franchise! Fans were eagerly awaiting more news following the announcement, but sadly were left waiting for news that would never come. Until now that is! This year at New Toy Toy Fair 2020 Wicked Cool Toys was proud to show off their all-new ‘Halo’ themed products and while they said there was stuff they couldn’t even show us yet, we were mindblown because it certainly didn’t look like they were holding anything back! ‘Halo’ is an all-new license for Wicked Cool Toys and there have been a number of other companies that held the license in the past including McFarlane Toys and Mattel, which means that Wicked Cool Toys has some big shoes to fill if they want to make their mark on the brand. It has officially been a year since Hasbro kicked off their new ‘Power Rangers: Lightning Collection’ line of 6″ figures! The line, which is geared towards collectors and fans of the overall ‘Power Rangers’ legacy than to the most current iteration of the brand, has been a rousing success, to say the least. Most stores seem to have trouble keeping them in stock, and it isn’t hard to see why! Hasbro/Paramount’s ‘M.A.S.K.: Mobile Armored Strike Kommand’ Will Be Written By ‘Bad Boys For Life’s Chris Bremner

The movie based on the ’80s Kenner toy brand ‘M.A.S.K.: Mobile Armored Strike Kommand’ (now part of the Hasbro dynasty) is moving forward with F. Gary Gray directing from a script by Chis Bremner. Gray was announced as director back in 2018 but movement on this project has been incredibly slow. Bremner is a newcomer but he’s off to an illustrious start having co-written this year’s biggest hit so far ‘Bad Boys For Life’ which just crossed the $400 million mark at the global box office. He is already signed to pen the screenplays for a fourth ‘Bad Boys’ and to help revive the ‘National Treasure’ franchise. Gray helmed the hits ‘Straight Outta Compton’ and ‘Fate of the Furious’, as well as last year’s underperformer ‘Men In Black: International’. Plans to make a ‘M.A.S.K.’ movie were first announced in 2015 along with a slew of other films based on Hasbro properties, which would take place in a shared universe. It’s unclear if these movies will still share a universe, but the upcoming ‘Snake Eyes’ is meant to reboot the lackluster ‘G.I. In late 2019 the team at Hasbro announced that they had taken over the master toy license for the ‘Ghostbusters’ brand starting in 2020. For many ‘Ghostbusters’ fans, this was fantastic news, as it meant we would have some great new products releasing just in time for the newest film in the franchise, ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife‘, hits theaters. Hasbro’s initial offerings seem to be pretty widespread, with plenty of items based on the original ‘Ghostbusters’ film and even some based on the classic ‘The Real Ghostbusters’ toyline! Here’s the rundown for items collectors won’t want to miss! For fans who grew up on the classic ‘The Real Ghostbusters’ animated series, Hasbro has a new retro-line of figures that are based on the classic Kenner toyline for the show! Toy Fair 2020: Playmobil Gears Up For 2020 With New Licenses

The team at Playmobil has been consistently releasing some top quality licensed playsets for the last few years ever since they kicked off their licensing game with ‘Ghostbusters’ and ‘How To Train Your Dragon’ back in 2017. This year is looking to be no different as Playmobil is kicking things into gear with several new licenses like ‘Scooby Doo’ and ‘Back To The Future’, plus more ‘Ghostbusters’ and even a brand new IP of their own creation with ‘Novelmore’!
