Heroes Of The CW Suit Up In 10 New DC Fandome Posters

Next weekend, DC Comics (an AT&T/WarnerMedia subsidiary) will hold its first-ever virtual fan convention, DC Fandome, and in anticipation of that event, The CW has released posters showcasing its slate in DC shows. Newcomers ‘Stargirl’ (Brec Bassinger) and ‘Superman & Lois’ (Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch) are included along with Cress Williams (Black Lightning/Jefferson Pierce) from ‘Black Lightning’, Grant Gustin (The Flash/Barry Allen) and Candice Patton (Iris West-Allen) from ‘The Flash’, and Melissa Benoist (Supergirl/Kara Danvers) and Nicole Maines (Nia Nal/Dreamer) from ‘Supergirl’. It’s interesting that Patton and Maines get their own posters, when they are supporting castmembers, while The CW’ real ensemble show, ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ only gets one poster, depicting Caity Lotz as White Canary/Sara Lance. But the strangest inclusion is the poster for ‘Batwoman’. In May, the show’s lead, Ruby Rose, quit the show. She has since been replaced by Javica Leslie, but due to COVID-19, it doesn’t appear that production has resumed on any of these shows, and Leslie may not have even done a costume fitting yet. DC Fandome Announces Its Full Schedule With Big Name Guests

Fans of DC Comics and its various media had to have been disappointed that none of them were presented at San Diego Comic-Con’s virtual con this year. Instead, the WarnerMedia DC empire is holding its own virtual con, DC Fandome, on August 22. This event will take place for 24 hours. At least from the look of things, DC Fandome will be a more interactive experience (I really don’t need to see another Zoom panel) and “attendees” will be able to explore various virtual areas and get teases from upcoming projects like the movies ‘Aquaman’ (the sequel or the movie that came out two years ago?), ‘The Batman’, ‘Black Adam’, ‘The Suicide Squad’, ‘Wonder Woman 1984’, and HBO Max’s re-edit ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’; and the TV shows ‘Batwoman’, ‘Doom Patrol’, ‘Lucifer’, and ‘Pennyworth’. “Real Heroes Wear Masks” tout a new series of posters from The CW featuring some of the stars of its DC Comics-inspired shows. Okay, so these are just photoshopped versions of previously released promo images, but they’re a fun way to hopefully help curb the spread of COVID-19. The posters feature ‘Black Lightning’s Cress Williams, ‘The Flash’s Grant Gustin, ‘Legends of Tomorrow’s Caity Lotz, and ‘Supergirl’s Melissa Benoist, as well as Tyler Hoechlin as Superman, star of the upcoming ‘Superman & Lois’ plus Brec Bassinger, the lead on ‘Stargirl’, another DC show, but one that is not part of the Arrowverse. Yes, there is one glaring omission: Batwoman. Ruby Rose shockingly quit that series in May. And while her replacement, Javica Leslie, was hired last month, she would not have had time to suit up and do a photoshoot. (Although that would’ve been cool, and a big scoop!) The Entire Arrowverse Along With The Rest Of The CW’s New “Fall” Lineup Has Been Pushed To 2021

While most folks have held out hope that things would be back to normal soon, the effects of COVID-19 continue to escalate and The CW is the first network to announce that the usual fall TV rollout will not happen as usual this year. The main problem is that most shows had to cut their current seasons short, so there are still multiple episodes of ‘Batwoman’, ‘The Flash’, and ‘Supergirl’, as well as ‘Riverdale’, ‘Legacies’, and ‘Supernatural’ (which is in its FINAL season), that were left unfilmed. Luckily, ‘Black Lightning’ and ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ were completely wrapped before shutdowns went into effect. Hopefully, the unfilmed episodes will be completed and aired this year, because The CW has declared that its new season won’t begin until at least January 2021! Reportedly, The CW’s new series ‘Superman & Lois’ began production before being shut down due to the COVID-19 outbreak, so it’s unclear whether or not it will be able to debut this fall as planned, but rest assured, it is on its way. Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch star in the titular roles, but this time, the Man of Steel and his intrepid reporter wife will be seen as they never have before in live-action– as parents. While Lois gave birth to a baby boy last autumn, thanks to the “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover, they are now the parents to two teenage sons, Jonathan and Jordan. Jonathan is described as “clean-cut, modest and kind-hearted, with an aw-shucks attitude that somehow doesn’t seem dated,” while Jordan is “wildly intelligent, but his mercurial temperament and social anxiety limit his interactions with people, and consequently, Jordan prefers to spend most of his free time alone, playing video games.” Jordan Elsass will portray Jonathan with Alex Garfin as Jordan. The first season of ABC’s ‘Super Friends’ aired during the 1973-74 season, but was not renewed for a second. But after some of ABC’s new Saturday morning shows failed, the network began rerunning ‘Super Friends’ and the strong ratings inspired the network to order a new season from Hanna-Barbera. But big changes occurred. The first season was an hour-long, but that was one hour-long story. And due to pressure from the group ACT (Action for Children’s Television), the show was devoid of any violence or excitement. Episodes had an overall environmental slant, and most of the time, the antagonists weren’t evil, but misguided. (It was a snooze.) Luckily, that scrutiny was relaxed by 1977 when ‘The All-New Super Friends Hour’ premiered. In the new episodes, the heroes actually confronted real villains, motivated by greed and power. They still weren’t allowed to physically strike them, but the episodes were still faster-paced and more exciting, and the focus was on the heroes themselves, not the sidekicks, as had been the case before. The entire “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover event is available to stream for free on The CW app, but this may be the last time the whole shebang will be found in one place. Once the seasons wrap up, the “Crisis” episodes of ‘Arrow’ (which is over), ‘Supergirl’, ‘The Flash’, and ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ will be on Netflix along with the tie-in episode of ‘Black Lightning’, but ‘Batwoman’ will only be available to stream on HBO Max. And ‘Legends of Tomorrow’s new season has just kicked, so that won’t hit Netflix for several months. So if you want all five chapters of “Crisis” or you’re just old school and prefer physical copies of your favorites, there is good news… kind of. Facing the Audience: Arrowverse EP Answers ‘Crisis’ Mystery Many Fans Had Not Even Noticed

Eagle-eyed fans eagerly anticipating this season’s ‘Crisis’ Crossover event may have noticed that in the original logo for ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths’ released by the CW, there was a subtle and odd difference to what the logo eventually looked like in the end. Apparently it all had to do with spoilers and odd marketing rules. In the original logo (see above), every letter had a major hero from one of the ongoing series pictured within, with Sara Lance being in the “C,” the Flash is in the “R,” The Monitor is in the first “I,” Supergirl is in the “S,” Batwoman is in the second “I,” and then, oddly, instead of Oliver Queen in the second “S,” there was the arrowhead from the ‘Arrow’ opening instead of the star himself. Eventually, it changed and Oliver Queen was in the second “S,” but the mystery (though small in importance) remained. The ending of the Arrowverse crossover “Crisis on Infinite Earths” was a treat for fans of DC TV shows across various outlets. For starters, the crossover wound up accomplishing what most viewers had hoped from the beginning– that all of The CW’s DC Comics shows, including ‘Black Lightning,‘ were now set on one Earth, Earth-Prime. But that doesn’t mean that all of the realities from the Multiverse were gone. Instead, it appeared that an all-new Multiverse had formed: Earth-2, setting for the upcoming series ‘Stargirl’, which will be offered on both the DC Universe streaming service and The CW; Earth-9, home of ‘Titans’, which had been among the parallel universes destroyed at the beginning of “Crisis”; Earth-12, setting of the recently announced ‘Green Lantern’ series coming to HBO Max; Earth-19, setting of DC Universe’s defunct ‘Swamp Thing’; Earth-21, setting for DC Universe’s ‘Doom Patrol’— firmly establishing that even though this show was originally meant to be a spin-off of ‘Titans’, it now takes place in its own reality; and Earth-96, the “Kingdom Come” Earth, which is also believed to be the reality of the Christopher Reeve ‘Superman’ movies and Brandon Routh’s ‘Superman Returns’. Prime News: “Crisis On Infinite Earths” Concludes With Massive Shift For CW Superhero Shows

With the conclusion of the epic “Crisis on Infinite Earths” this week, all of the CW DC superhero shows now find themselves in new territory, somewhat literally. In the crossover, after the destruction of the multiverse and then its resurrection, all of the current Arrowverse series (‘The Flash,’ ‘Arrow,’ ‘Supergirl,’ ‘Batwoman,’ ‘Black Lightning,’ and ‘Legends of Tomorrow’) now find themselves on one new Earth, which has been dubbed “Earth-Prime,” though most will probably come to know it as “Earth-CW” in the future. According to executive producer Marc Guggenheim, this was always the plan for ‘Crisis.’ In his words, while at a screening for ‘Crisis’ in December, he explains: “We knew from last year, quite frankly, that we were going to merge and create Earth-CW basically, but Earth-Prime sounds better. Even though in the comics, Earth-Prime is our Earth, I just personally like the sound of Earth-Prime. SPOILER ALERT: If you have not seen the final two chapters of The CW’s “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover, this contains MASSIVE SPOILERS so turn back now or proceed with caution. The CW split up its annual crossover event between its DC Comics-based shows over the winter hiatus, with the first three episodes of “Crisis on Infinite Earths” airing in December, and the last two on Tuesday, January 14. The first three installments got mixed reactions from viewers, as there were some pacing issues, and the magnitude of the destruction depicted didn’t really come across. But there were fun Easter Eggs, particularly in the first episode, which featured cameos from Burt Ward as the Dick Grayson of Earth-66, and Robert Wuhl as Alexander Knox, the character he played in 1989’s ‘Batman’, on a world now known as Earth-89. But the producers and network kept the biggest reveals and Easter Eggs for the final chapters, and no one was prepared for one cameo in particular! The CW Releases Five Images From “Crisis On Infinite Earths – Part 5”

In a switch, The CW released photos of the official Season 5 premiere of ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ last week, but that episode, which airs next week, will actually be the second new episode fans will see in 2020. On Tuesday night, the show provides the fifth hour of the “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover event, and despite all of reality being wiped out at the end of the third episode, on ‘Arrow’, a new set of photos has been released, showing Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh) and Mick Rory (Dominic Purcell) are alive and well. Unlike in the case of episodes past, The CW has only released a meager five photos from this episode. Considering that this is the ending of its most ambitious crossover yet, it makes sense that they don’t want to reveal too much in advance. The only cast members shown, in addition to Routh and Purcell are Grant Gustin/The Flash/Barry Allen, Melissa Benoist/Supergirl/Kara Danvers, Jon Cryer/Lex Luthor, and newcomer Osric Chau as Ryan Choi, who may succeed Ray as The Atom. For The 2nd Year In A Row, The CW Renews All Of Its Shows

For the second year in a row, The CW is basically canceling nothing and looks to be renewing all of its existing series. Of course, it was already known that ‘Arrow’, and ‘Supernatural’ were ending because their stars were ready to move on, and that ‘The 100’ was wrapping up after seven successful seasons and will fittingly climax with its 100th episode. When The CW didn’t cancel any shows last season, it was the first time any network hasn’t canceled a single show since 1981. Freshmen series ‘Batwoman’ and ‘Nancy Drew’ will be back for seconds. Also coming back are ‘All American’ (season three), ‘Black Lightning’ (season four), ‘Charmed’ (season three), ‘Dynasty’ (season four), ‘The Flash’ (season seven), ‘In the Dark’ (season three), ‘Legacies’ (season three), ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ (season six), ‘Riverdale’ (season five), ‘Roswell, New Mexico’ (season three) and ‘Supergirl’ (season five on The CW and six overall, as the first aired on CBS).
