Jonathan is described as “clean-cut, modest and kind-hearted, with an aw-shucks attitude that somehow doesn’t seem dated,” while Jordan is “wildly intelligent, but his mercurial temperament and social anxiety limit his interactions with people, and consequently, Jordan prefers to spend most of his free time alone, playing video games.”  Jordan Elsass will portray Jonathan with Alex Garfin as Jordan. In the meantime, Elsass can be seen in the new Hulu miniseries ‘Little Fires Everywhere’, starring and executive produced by Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington.  While promoting that, he took a moment to discuss […]

The Arrowverse Shows Will Be Back With New Episodes In April; No More ‘Supernatural’ Or ‘Legacies’ Until This Pandemic Passes https://sciencefiction.com/2020/04/01/the-arrowverse-shows-will-be-back-with-new-episodes-in-april-no-more-supernatural-or-legacies-until-this-pandemic-passes/ https://sciencefiction.com/2020/04/01/the-arrowverse-shows-will-be-back-with-new-episodes-in-april-no-more-supernatural-or-legacies-until-this-pandemic-passes/#disqus_thread Wed, 01 Apr 2020 14:05:54 +0000 https://sciencefiction.com/?p=352630 The COVID-19 coronavirus has thrown the entire world into disarray and the entertainment industry is certainly feeling the impact.  Luckily for fans, The CW’s Arrowverse shows– ‘The Flash’, ‘Legends of Tomorrow’, ‘Supergirl’, and ‘Batwoman’— had already finished shooting their current seasons by the time productions started to shut down industry-wide.  There were still some issues with post-production, however, which has resulted in a shuffling of their schedules.  But now comes word that these four fan-favorites will be back in April. ‘The Flash’ and ‘Legends’ will return with new episodes on Tuesday, April 21.  New episodes of ‘Batwoman’ and ‘Supergirl’ will arrive on April 26. This week, The CW is re-airing the massive “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover to help fill the void. Fans of The CW’s longest-running show, ‘Supernatural’, are not so lucky.  It was already a tough pill to swallow that the current 15th season is the last, but now the coronavirus has scrambled that.  Last week’s episode, “Destiny’s Child,” the 13th out of 20, is the last episode that was completed.  That means there are seven more episodes left to film, including the series finale.  But there is no telling how long everything will be shut down. To […]

In a time when everyone is social distancing and self-quarantining, Amell has taken to Instagram to keep in touch with his fans (something he announced that he would be doing every day due to the coronavirus pandemic).  During Tuesday’s Instagram Live session, he was asked if he would ever consider reprising his role or guest star in any of the other Arrowverse shows. “No, I’m done. That was good. It was a good eight years but it was time to be done.” While not the answer fans wanted to hear, his reaction is understandable. Amell has been starring as Oliver Queen for 8 seasons and the series finale gave such a memorable sendoff that having him return would lessen its sentiments.   RELATED: The Green Knight: Stephen Amell Speaks On Original Inspiration For ‘Arrow’ Amell’s comments also dash any hope that the actor will appear (in a flashback or some other form) in the ‘Arrow’ spinoff ‘Green Arrow and the Canaries’. In the new series, Oliver and Felicity’s daughter, Mia (Katherine McNamara), takes over the Green Arrow mantle but will do so in the future – the year 2040. There, she will […]

Executive producer Marc Guggenheim explained to ComicBook.com: “When we have to cover something up or have a billboard or something, we’ve conditioned the art department to recognize it as an Easter egg opportunity, And they’ll contact us and say, ‘listen, we’re putting up a billboard here. What Easter egg do you want to put in the billboard?’ And we got that phone call, and by that point I was done with ‘Crisis’ and Easter egged-out. Just in terms of the amount of approvals, and everything else I need to do in order to get these Easter eggs in. So I basically […]

Stop reading if you haven’t watched it yet! * * * * Well, ‘Arrow’ is over, and fans can finally move on from the show that started the ‘Arrowverse,’ albeit with one very notable exception, the fate of John Diggle. For years fans have been enamored of Oliver Queen’s one-time bodyguard and driver who turned into his best friend and partner in vigilantism, and became even more interested in Diggle once rumors started flying that he might be a future Green Lantern due to his similarities to the Lantern John Stewart (who a lot of fans outside of comics still remember from the beloved ‘Justice League’ and ‘Justice League Unlimited’ animated series in the early 2000s.) Now, after an ‘Arrow’ finale that included what could only be described as a potential Green Lantern origin story moment for Diggle (a scene that had a meteor crash near Dig while he is packing up for his move to Metropolis, and Dig finding a box with something glowing bright green inside), fans are very curious about what the ‘Arrowverse’ and DC Television has in store for Diggle in the future.   RELATED:  Review: The […]

What we didn’t know what just how much of Arrow would be different because of it. “Fadeout” paints this new picture in a slightly jumbled first act where many of the characters gone for years — Tommy, Moira, and Quentin, to name a few — were revived thanks to Oliver’s final act. But all those lost do not return. Robert Queen is one such soul that remains dead, as does the Earth-One Laurel. The uncertainty of why she wasn’t returned haunts the current Laurel (formerly of Earth-Two) and she blames herself for what she sees as a mistake. In a touching scene, Quentin reminds Laurel that there’s nothing in her that needs changing. It’s a watershed moment for this Laurel who, for so long, has fought to live up to the hero ideal the original Laurel left behind. Quentin’s words solidify this version of Laurel Lance as every bit of the hero as his daughter was, and there is no better place to have this indelibly inscribed than in this soulful finale. It’s moments like these that make “Fadeout” such a […]

Facing the Audience: Arrowverse EP Answers ‘Crisis’ Mystery Many Fans Had Not Even Noticed https://sciencefiction.com/2020/01/22/facing-the-audience-arrowverse-ep-answers-crisis-mystery-many-fans-had-not-even-noticed/ https://sciencefiction.com/2020/01/22/facing-the-audience-arrowverse-ep-answers-crisis-mystery-many-fans-had-not-even-noticed/#disqus_thread Thu, 23 Jan 2020 01:40:33 +0000 https://sciencefiction.com/?p=349001 Eagle-eyed fans eagerly anticipating this season’s ‘Crisis’ Crossover event may have noticed that in the original logo for ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths’ released by the CW, there was a subtle and odd difference to what the logo eventually looked like in the end. Apparently it all had to do with spoilers and odd marketing rules. In the original logo (see above), every letter had a major hero from one of the ongoing series pictured within, with Sara Lance being in the “C,” the Flash is in the “R,” The Monitor is in the first “I,” Supergirl is in the “S,” Batwoman is in the second “I,” and then, oddly, instead of Oliver Queen in the second “S,” there was the arrowhead from the ‘Arrow’ opening instead of the star himself. Eventually, it changed and Oliver Queen was in the second “S,” but the mystery (though small in importance) remained. Now we have some answers from Arrowverse Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim himself thanks to a question posted to him on Twitter: At first I was told only actors appearing in all five hours could be in the main title card. Stephen, as you now know, wasn’t in Hour 5 (a fact […]

But that doesn’t mean that all of the realities from the Multiverse were gone.  Instead, it appeared that an all-new Multiverse had formed: Earth-2, setting for the upcoming series ‘Stargirl’, which will be offered on both the DC Universe streaming service and The CW; Earth-9, home of ‘Titans’, which had been among the parallel universes destroyed at the beginning of “Crisis”; Earth-12, setting of the recently announced ‘Green Lantern’ series coming to HBO Max; Earth-19, setting of DC Universe’s defunct ‘Swamp Thing’; Earth-21, setting for DC Universe’s ‘Doom Patrol’— firmly establishing that even though this show was originally meant to be a spin-off of ‘Titans’, it now takes place in its own reality; and Earth-96, the “Kingdom Come” Earth, which is also believed to be the reality of the Christopher Reeve ‘Superman’ movies and Brandon Routh’s ‘Superman Returns’.   RELATED: Flash In The Pan: The […]

It’s a standard mindset when examining a series premiere as it tries to pull viewers into the world that’s being established. It’s less common for a show with the history of Arrow to procure such emotions from its audience but “Green Arrow” does so on several levels, the biggest of which is a much different looking (and living) Mia Queen engaged to JJ while the Star City of the future is, per news reports, the safest city in the country. Sounds like a recipe for a middling spinoff, right? Well, it doesn’t take long for business to pick up and Mia to fathom her lifetime of forgotten memories. Using technology Cisco derived from Martian Manhunter’s psychic abilities, Laurel unceremoniously (and without permission) brings Mia up to speed on that lost lifetime. Regardless of her reasoning, it’s a pretty scummy thing to do, upending a future Mia had planned, and for what? To rescue Mia’s […]

In the crossover, after the destruction of the multiverse and then its resurrection, all of the current Arrowverse series (‘The Flash,’ ‘Arrow,’ ‘Supergirl,’ ‘Batwoman,’ ‘Black Lightning,’ and ‘Legends of Tomorrow’) now find themselves on one new Earth, which has been dubbed “Earth-Prime,” though most will probably come to know it as “Earth-CW” in the future. According to executive producer Marc Guggenheim, this was always the plan for ‘Crisis.’ In his words, while at a screening for ‘Crisis’ in December, he explains: “We knew from last year, quite frankly, that we were going to merge and create Earth-CW basically, but Earth-Prime sounds better. Even though in the comics, Earth-Prime is our Earth, I just personally like the sound of Earth-Prime. So all of the CW [superhero] shows will be on the same Earth.” Of course, unlike in the comics, the heroes saving the day does not result in ALL DC live-action universes merging into one Earth, as shown in the ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ episode of the crossover. New shows like ‘Stargirl‘ which is set […]

The CW split up its annual crossover event between its DC Comics-based shows over the winter hiatus, with the first three episodes of “Crisis on Infinite Earths” airing in December, and the last two on Tuesday, January 14.  The first three installments got mixed reactions from viewers, as there were some pacing issues, and the magnitude of the destruction depicted didn’t really come across.  But there were fun Easter Eggs, particularly in the first episode, which featured cameos from Burt Ward as the Dick Grayson of Earth-66, and Robert Wuhl as Alexander Knox, the character he played in 1989’s ‘Batman’, on a world now known as Earth-89. But the producers and network kept the biggest reveals and Easter Eggs for the final chapters, and no one was prepared for one cameo in particular!   Yes, Ezra Miller’s Flash came face-to-face with Grant Gustin’s!  This is remarkable in many every way.  For starters, if you’ve been following The CW shows from the start, you know there has been friction between the […]
