We already know about Lady Gaga‘s Elizabeth a.k.a. The Countess’ vampire-like brood, with her creepy gaggle of platinum-headed kids as well as her assorted lovers. But as with previous installments of ‘American Horror Story’ the main baddies are rarely the real horrors. Last season, ‘Freak Show’ featured Finn Wittrock as the foppish Dandy Mott, a serial killer with no clear conscience, but it was Twisty The Clown that haunted most viewers nightmares. And while the vampy Countess will surely get her hands bloody, the true frights are likely to come in the form of the Addiction Demon or as he will colloquially be referred to on the show as, the Dildo Killer.
Very little is known about this killer, not even whether it is in fact a demon or some other type of supernatural monster — it could even be a human in slimy disguise, but that’s not as likely. We don’t even know who is playing this creature. What we do know is that the killer wears/uses a weaponized… adult novelty and is at the center of what is being described as the most disturbing scene in ‘AHS’ history!
I’m not sure if this is an actual still from the show or a between-takes look at the Addiction Demon. But the jacket draped over its shoulders looks like one of Dandy Mott’s hand-me-downs. This season is said to tie together the previous installments. If so, could this be a clue?
Ryan Murphy, the co-creator of ‘AHS’ and the series’ showrunner stated:
“He is a representation of that and what people go through fighting addiction. It’s not done lightly or blithely. I think it’s very powerful and strong.”
Addiction is said to play a major part in this season. There is presumably some element of that involved when it comes to The Countess and her followers. But also, expect to see traditional drug addiction play a part. Sarah Paulson‘s character, Hypodermic Sally and Max Greenfield‘s Gabriel are just two examples of Hollywood fast lane roadkill who will play a part in this season and both are said to have a role in the “disturbing” scene in question.
Greenfield said:
“Ryan gets real pleasure out of how far, I think, he can push it. And when we were doing that stuff, he was happy and he was scared. We all were. And it was a good vibe on set because of that. I think we were like, ‘F— yeah, man. Let’s push this and let’s see how far we can go.”
Considering how creepy certain aspects of ‘AHS’ have already been, it’s hard to imagine how much worse this “most disturbing” scene will be.
Based just on two photos, where does the Addiction Demon fall in terms of frightening appearance? Scarier than Twisty or not so much? Comment below!
