Call me a scaredy cat all you want, but I was afraid to play any ‘Silent Hill’ game when I was a kid. That stuff was super creepy! And maybe that fear carried over a little bit into post-childhood because I didn’t even see the 2006 film adaptation. But it looks like a sequel is on the way and there are three words that might persuade me to see it: Game of Thrones.
Recently, I caught up with the amazing HBO series, and upon completion of the second season, I wanted more of the show and the actors, so when I heard that Sean Bean (Ned Stark) and Kit Harington (Jon Snow) would be in ‘Silent Hill: Revelation’, I began to discuss with myself about facing my childhood fear. Speaking to io9, writer/director Michael J. Bassett talked about the ‘Game of Thrones’ reunion in his movie:
“I didn’t know at the time. Kit came in to audition for me, and Game of Thrones hadn’t been shown yet. Nobody knew who he was. He came in as a talented young actor, for the role. And he was fantastic in the room. He was one of the first guys I met. I knew it was going to be him… And then Game of Thrones came out, and suddenly we’ve got Jon Snow. I said to Kit, “Sean Bean’s in the movie. Dude, that’s weird.” It’s actually quite a small industry — everybody knows everybody else. And I said to Sean, “Oh, are you doing season two of Game of Thrones?” And he went, “Nope.” And now I know why.”
To get a small sneak peek of Harington in action, check out this new clip from ‘Silent Hill: Revelation’ where Snow… I mean, Harington has to escape from knife-wielding nurses:
According to Bassett, one won’t need prior knowledge of the ‘Silent Hill’ franchise to see the sequel, however, for fans of the story, it continues the story of Sharon Da Silva in an adaptation of the third game in the series. For me, that means less scary movies/video games to push through before seeing the new movie.
‘Silent Hill: Revelation 3D’ starring Adelaide Clemens, Sean Bean, Kit Harington, and Malcolm McDowell opens in theaters on October 26, 2012.
