Disney Announces Delay in Release of ‘Black Panther’ Sequel, ‘Doctor Strange 2’ and More

Disney has announced a delay in the release of multiple Marvel films that are slated to come out over the course of 2022 and 2023. The first major change we see is Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness being delayed about a month and a half, thus pushing the films with a following release date about the same. While this news may seem shocking, sources at Deadline claim this is not the result of any major problems, however, is the result of the fact that”some titles are contending with finishing scenarios while others are in production.” That being said, these delays are only for the films that are scheduled to be released and appear to have no effect on the streaming series at Disney+. Below is the full recap of the Marvel release date changes that we know so far. Disney traditionally seems to work magic on the screen, but with Disney+, the studio is drawing back the curtain to show fans just how much real work goes into their TV shows and movies. ‘Disney Insider’ lays out the making-of all things Disney, but there are also docuseries that examine more specific subjects. ‘Disney Gallery – Star Wars: The Mandalorian’ examines the creation of the streaming service’s popular flagship series. ‘Prop Culture’ takes a deep dive into specific objects from films. ‘The Imagineering Story’ focuses on the creation of theme park rides and attractions. Anthony Mackie Says Marvel Needs More Diversity Behind-The-Cameras

DisneyOne of the biggest hits in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe was 2018’s ‘Black Panther’, which grossed $1.347 billion at the box office, as fans declared, “It’s Not A Movie, It’s A Movement!” And outside of that film, Anthony Mackie has the role of Sam Wilson, a.k.a. The Falcon and possibly the next Captain America, while Don Cheadle portrays War-Machine/James Rhodes. But even though Mackie is set to co-headline the Disney+ series ‘Falcon & Winter Soldier’, he thinks Marvel Studios and parent company Disney could do a lot more to increase diversity behind the camera. In a dual interview with ‘Snowpiercer’s Daveed Diggs, Mackie lamented: “When ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ comes out, I’m the lead. When ‘Snowpiercer’ came out, you’re the lead. We have the power and the ability to ask those questions. Well, it seems that not everyone is all “Rah! Rah! Disney+, YAY!!!” One Marvel star is putting his razor-tipped foot down– Chadwick Boseman. The record-breaking Marvel Cinematic Universe is expanding into TV with a series or miniseries starring various actors from the movies in programs that will help better flesh out and advance their characters outside of the crowded ensemble theatrical flicks. When asked by MTV International, if fans could lookout for a ‘Black Panther’ Disney+ series, Boseman replied: “I wouldn’t because I don’t want to do a TV show. I wouldn’t choose one so I can’t answer that. Like, I have a whole list of things that I’m excited about. And so, none of those are franchises.” Before anyone gets all huffy and accuses him of thinking he’s too good for television, there was never going to be a ‘Black Panther’ Disney+ series. Ryan Coogler Has Just Started Mapping Out The Story For ‘Black Panther 2’

‘Black Panther’ was the highest-grossing solo Marvel Studios film, so a huge number of fans are chomping at the bit for a sequel. Unfortunately, we’re all in for a wait. ‘Black Panther 2’ was not among the pictures announced at San Diego Comic-Con, which outlined the studio’s output for 2020-21. However, director Ryan Coogler did appear at the D23 Expo to announce that the sequel will arrive on May 6, 2022. That means that ‘Black Panther 2’ probably won’t begin filming until 2021. During a cover story for the Wall Street Journal, Disney CEO Bob Iger stated that Coogler was “just beginning the process of outlining the story.” Coogler co-wrote the screenplay for the first with Joe Robert Cole, but so far, it is believed that Coogler will be tackling the sequel alone. ScreenRant officially reported on the opposition at Marvel Studios for two very important movies to date. I am speaking of the highly successful ‘Black Panther’ and ‘Captain Marvel’. Both films grossed over $1 billion internationally and were critically well-received. ‘Black Panther,’ in particular, was awarded three Oscars in 2019 – the first for Marvel Studios. Including Best Costume Design and Best Production Design. In his new memoir, ‘The Ride of a Lifetime’, Disney CEO Bob Iger spoke about the “roadblocks” to the production of ‘Black Panther’ and ‘Captain Marvel’ and addressed the opposition from Marvel CEO Ike Perlmutter. “I’ve been in the business long enough to have heard every old argument in the book, and I’ve learned that old arguments are just that: old, and out of step with where the world is and where it should be. A ‘What If…?’ Episode Will Feature Black Panther As… Star Lord?

‘What If…?‘ will be giving us some significant twists to the Marvel Cinematic Universe when the series launches on Disney+ and now we’ve learned that one of the major changes will be that T’Challa/Black Panther will end up as one of the Guardians of the Galaxy. It isn’t clear why the King of Wakanda will end up in space or what that will mean for Chadwick Boseman’s character. The news is fleshed out a bit thanks to showrunner Ashley Bradley who has been opening up as to what we can expect from this quirky series. According to Bradley: “On the reel [shown at D23], there is this image of a Star-Lord T’Challa because we wanted to see what if the worlds of Black Panther and the Guardians of the Galaxy collided. D23: Ryan Coogler Reveals ‘Black Panther II’s Release Date

It was obvious that ‘Black Panther’ was getting a sequel. The first film made $1.35 billion at the worldwide box office, and is the highest-grossing of the Marvel solo movies. But the sequel wasn’t among the films that were announced at San Diego Comic-Con, which announced everything coming out in 2020 and 2021, and constitutes Marvel’s Phase 4. But director Ryan Coogler took the stage at the D23 Expo along with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige to reveal that ‘Black Panther II’ — which appears to be the sequel’s official name for now — will be released on May 6, 2022. That probably means that it will be the first movie of Phase 5. Coogler co-wrote the first ‘Black Panther’ with Joe Robert Cole, but it appears that he is writing the sequel’s script himself.
