The first major change we see is Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness being delayed about a month and a half, thus pushing the films with a following release date about the same. While this news may seem shocking, sources at Deadline claim this is not the result of any major problems, however, is the result of  the fact that”some titles are contending with finishing scenarios while others are in production.” That being said, these delays are only for the films that are scheduled to be released and appear to have no effect on the streaming series at Disney+. Below is the full recap of the Marvel release date changes that we know so far. Fortunately, the shift is minimal and we can all look forward to kicking off summer 2022 with what should be a huge hit. Marvel Release Date Changes Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness – Delayed from March 25, 2022, to May 6, 2022 Thor: Love and Thunder – Delayed from May 6, 2022, to July 8, 2022 Black […]

Universal’s Islands of Adventure gave us a cool Hulk rollercoaster and a sweet Spider-Man ride, but those lack the MCU’s flare. Sure, that’s all because of licensing agreements from over twenty years ago, but we want some interactive Tom Holland Spidey action now! Don’t worry. Disney heard our cries and is set to deliver onto us tidings of colorful leather and spandex. 2020 is set to be the year in which significant changes will be happening all across Disney parks worldwide. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is going to be a substantial factor in that metamorphosis. In the coming twelve months, Disney California Adventure Park will be home to the first phase of Avengers Campus. This new land will be entirely dedicated to the heroes and heroines of the MCU in some exciting ways. The initial E-Ticket attraction will be an interactive Spider-Man ride, which looks to be a combination of the IoA ride and ‘Toy Story Midway Mania.’ On this 3D journey, you’ll assist Spidey web-up his wayward Spider-Bots. Hopefully, this is just part of the ride, and we’ll run into some of the Webhead’s rogues […]

Scott Lang, a former crook-turned-Avenger.  This third movie is reportedly planned to begin filming in late 2020, or early 2021, for a 2022 release date.  Disney already announced its slate of Phase 4 films at San Diego Comic-Con this summer, which carries the studio into 2021. This is what Marvel Studios has in the pipeline for the next two years: May 1, 2020 – ‘Black Widow’ November 6, 2020 – ‘Eternals’ February 21, 2021 – ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ May 7, 2021 – ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ November 5, 2021 – ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ ‘Ant-Man 3’ joins ‘Blade’ and ‘Black Panther 2’ as part of Phase 5, but none of those has a specific production or release date lined up.   RELATED: Peyton Reed Shares There Are Undiscovered ‘Ant-Man And The Wasp’ Easter Eggs   Reed signed on to direct the first ‘Ant-Man’ after Edgar Wright had spent years developing the project for Marvel, but stepped away due to “creative […]

Since then, the character has been portrayed on the big screen by Halle Berry (kind of) and Anne Hathaway.  And Matt Reeves has reportedly included Catwoman in his screenplay for ‘The Batman’.  This has led to a flood of fan castings, as well as actual Hollywood actors throwing out their names for consideration. Grab some snacks and drinks and let’s get binging!   1. Captain America: The First Avenger Yep, you can completely skip the first four movies– ‘Iron Man’, ‘The Incredible Hulk’, ‘Iron Man 2’, and ‘Thor’.  While it’s important to establish those characters, if you’ve already seen them, you already know who they are.  So let’s skip right to the first appearance of an Infinity Stone. Technically the Tesseract was first teased in the mid-credits scene of ‘Thor’ but it wasn’t until ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’ that its full power was unveiled.  Not only does this introduce what would later be revealed to be the Space Stone, and ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’ leads directly into ‘The Avengers’.   RELATED:  Robert Downey Jr. Calls ‘Iron Man 2’ “Dissatisfying And Disappointing”   2. According to director Peyton Reed there are quite a few from ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ which have yet to see the light of day and he is even hinting at a few of the scenes where they can be found. While it should come as no surprise that he has mentioned that the Quantum Realm has yet to reveal all of its mysteries to Eagle-Eyed viewers it seems that there are a couple of other locations that we’ll also have to be paying attention to on our next viewing of the film. According to Reed: “I think there are a couple that have not been mentioned yet. I mean, people have certainly seen the little — what appears to be a civilization in the Quantum Realm. People have seen the giant Duracell batteries. There are lots of details in Pym’s shrunken lab with these items that are found objects he’s using. There’s a lot of stuff in Hank’s lab. There are a few things in X-Con, […]

Peyton Reed Once Pitched A ‘Fantastic Four’ Film Set In The ’60s https://sciencefiction.com/2019/01/16/peyton-reed-pitched-fantastic-four-film-set-60s/ https://sciencefiction.com/2019/01/16/peyton-reed-pitched-fantastic-four-film-set-60s/#disqus_thread Wed, 16 Jan 2019 14:59:23 +0000 http://sciencefiction.com/?p=313716 Peyton Reed had revealed that long before the Marvel Cinematic Universe was even born that he had pitched a Marvel film to 20th Century Fox. It was in the early 2000s and the director wanted to have a ‘Fantastic Four‘ movie set in the ’60s to fit when they had initially been introduced in the comics. Not only that, but he was also not interested in telling an origin story and wanted to get right into the action! Reed loved the idea of the characters and had made a pitch for the movie: “I actually developed Fantastic Four when it was at Fox, and this would have been about 2002 or 2003. I was doing a movie at Fox at the time, and they were gonna do Fantastic Four, and I went in and pitched to [then Fox Filmed Entertainment CEO] Tom Rothman.” While he wasn’t specific as to the story he wanted to tell he did have a setting in mind: “I developed it for about a year and we went through some different permutations and some different writers, but yes, one of the big ideas was a set-in-the-’60s thing that at the time was structurally gonna be basically […]

The cast of ‘Black Panther‘ is up for the Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture – Drama Award, facing off against the players from ‘A Star is Born’, ‘BlacKkKlansman’, ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ and ‘Crazy Rich Asians’. In a more technical category, Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture, the stunt crew from ‘Black Panther’ is facing off against those for ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ and ‘Avengers: Infinity War’.  Also nominated in this category are the stunt performers from ‘The Ballad of Buster Scruggs’ and ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout’. On the Television side of things, the stunt crew from ‘Daredevil‘ is nominated for Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble, opposite ‘GLOW’, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan’, The Walking Dead‘ and ‘Westworld‘. As for other genre nominations, perhaps the person with the most to look forward to is Emily Blunt is nominated […]

Evangeline Lilly Confesses The Post Credit Scene In ‘Ant-Man And The Wasp’ Was Initially Much Longer https://sciencefiction.com/2018/10/17/evangeline-lilly-shares-post-credit-scene-ant-man-wasp-initially-much-longer/ https://sciencefiction.com/2018/10/17/evangeline-lilly-shares-post-credit-scene-ant-man-wasp-initially-much-longer/#disqus_thread Wed, 17 Oct 2018 15:45:40 +0000 http://sciencefiction.com/?p=302564 Fans who needed some comic relief after ‘Avengers: Infinity War‘ were thrilled with ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ being able to deliver that, right up to the scene they snuck in after the credits. But now,  Evangeline Lilly, the actress who plays Hope van Dyne, a.k.a. the new Wasp in the “Ant-Man” series, recently let us know that what they filmed had gone on longer but it was cut for an excellent reason. If you’ve somehow not seen ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ or the after the credits scenes from ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp,’ I do have to warn you that there are spoilers ahead. When Lilly saw the final cut of the scene, she couldn’t help but be surprised: “I kind of got a giggle when I saw the final product, because they basically just cut our reactions out completely and cut to ash. However, what we did end up seeing was much more dramatic and worked very well for the scene.” She believes that the scene was cut because they “blew it” when they recorded it. The reason behind this is that she, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Michael Douglas didn’t know what was happening. Initially, the actress stated that “None of knew what we […]

Janet Van Dye Was Almost A Villain In ‘Ant-Man And The Wasp’ https://sciencefiction.com/2018/10/11/janet-almost-villain-ant-man-wasp/ https://sciencefiction.com/2018/10/11/janet-almost-villain-ant-man-wasp/#disqus_thread Thu, 11 Oct 2018 23:12:17 +0000 http://sciencefiction.com/?p=301731 Director Peyton Reed has shared a massive twist that almost made its way into ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp.’ Michelle Pfeiffer‘s Janet van Dyne was almost a villain in the film! After being hinted at still being alive in ‘Ant-Man’ and the primary focus of Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang, Evangeline Lilly’s Hope van Dyne, and Michael Douglas’s Hang Pym being to find Janet in this film, that would have been a shocking revelation for audiences to see. After Hank saved Janet from the Quantum Realm, we found out there were still many mysteries about the character as she was able to save Ghost with her new powers. However, during a recent interview, Reed was asked if he had any thoughts on the fan theory that Janet could be a villain. While he initially somewhat changed the subject during his response, the director did share that the idea had been on the table: ” We had so many discussions as we were first formulating the story. It was the big question in the movie: is Janet still alive down there after 30 years? Who is she now? How’s she been affected by the environment? It was the one thing that we really sort […]

Now, we can relive the moment, and have a few laughs, as Marvel Studios just released some of the outtakes from the moment. Judging from the footage, Lee was given quite a few super funny lines but the best one was chosen for the final cut. In fact, Paul Rudd explained that the cast referenced the line throughout filming. Lee appears in ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ as a citizen minding his own business, walking up to his car. The vehicle magically shrinks after getting hit from a shrinking disc during the major car chase scene. In the cut, Lee says: “Well, the 60s were fun, but now I’m paying for it.” Rudd appears in the bonus content from the film speaking about Lee, and says that he is a “lovely guy,” referring to him as The Man. Rudd also revealed that Lee was open to every line being fed to him, and that he’s “always game at doing whatever it is the directors want him to do.” Along with the digital and Blu-ray releases of ‘Ant-Man and the […]

A Cut ‘Ant-Man And The Wasp’ Scene Introduced A New Character! https://sciencefiction.com/2018/09/29/cut-ant-man-wasp-scene-introduced-new-character/ https://sciencefiction.com/2018/09/29/cut-ant-man-wasp-scene-introduced-new-character/#disqus_thread Sat, 29 Sep 2018 13:00:11 +0000 http://sciencefiction.com/?p=300285 Two new scenes which were cut from ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp‘ were recently released and one of them introduced an entirely new life form into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The first of the two scenes was entertaining and featured Walton Goggins back as Sonny Burch. There isn’t much in that scene that adds to the story, but it did give him a bit more screen time and was entertaining. Honestly, I’m not broken up that it was cut as it didn’t add that much to the villain’s character. The second scene though is quite a bit more exciting and takes place closer to the end of the film. Here, we’re put back in the scene where Michael Douglas’s Hank Pym has entered the Quantum Realm to save his wife Janet Van Dyne played by Michelle Pfeiffer. This is after their reunion, and they appear to be traveling somewhere. The interesting part here is that a creature which is larger than them in their current state stops in front of them and Janet can communicate with it which allows the couple to pass. You can check out the two new cut scenes below: Watch two EXCLUSIVE #AntMan deleted scenes (plus, some Paul […]

And they’re always a duo. I mean, correct me if I’m wrong, but I feel like you almost never see them not together… And I’ve been asked, ‘Would you like to do a standalone Wasp film?’ And I keep saying, ‘Well, I don’t think so, because they’re partners, and they were always partners, and they’re original founding members of the Avengers and they belong side by side.’ And now I’ve been seeing posters coming out for ‘Captain Marvel’, and I’m like, ‘Ohh, hang on a minute! That looks really fun!’” While it’s true that originally, The Wasp and Ant-Man were a pair, over the years, in the comic books, The Wasp emerged as her own character, eventually becoming one of […]

At Fan Expo Boston this past weekend, she stated: “I actually don’t like the idea of a Wasp standalone film, because Ant-Man and Wasp, since the very beginning in the comic books, were always a team. And really, they’re kind of one of the only proper and true teams in the MCU, otherwise it’s mostly a lot of individuals. And I love the team aspect of it, I love watching the interplay between Wasp and Ant-Man and Ant-Man and the Wasp. For me it’s the most fun part of the film.” That doesn’t mean she wouldn’t do another Marvel movie without Paul Rudd.  She recently stated that she would leave Scott Lang’s […]
