Disney Announces Delay in Release of ‘Black Panther’ Sequel, ‘Doctor Strange 2’ and More

Disney has announced a delay in the release of multiple Marvel films that are slated to come out over the course of 2022 and 2023. The first major change we see is Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness being delayed about a month and a half, thus pushing the films with a following release date about the same. While this news may seem shocking, sources at Deadline claim this is not the result of any major problems, however, is the result of the fact that”some titles are contending with finishing scenarios while others are in production.” That being said, these delays are only for the films that are scheduled to be released and appear to have no effect on the streaming series at Disney+. Below is the full recap of the Marvel release date changes that we know so far. Jonathan Majors Cast In ‘Ant-Man 3’ As A Classic Marvel Villain

shutterstock A star who is significantly on the rise, Jonathan Majors has been cast in the forthcoming ‘Ant-Man 3,’ one of the next installments in the wildly successful Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel itself has not confirmed which role Majors will play, but Deadline reports confidently via “sources close to the project” that he will play the iconic villain Kang the Conqueror. Created by legendary Marvel Comics powerhouses Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Kang made his first appearance in 1964 in ‘The Avengers’ comic-book series and has had a long and illustrious career of tormenting pretty much every major Marvel hero and team, including the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, the Inhumans, and the X-Men. Here’s the character’s brief description from Wikipedia: Kang the Conqueror is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character is most frequently depicted as an opponent of the Avengers. Marvel Studios likes to release at least a trilogy of their notable characters, so we’ve all been expecting a third ‘Ant-Man‘ to hit sooner than later. While much of the Lang family, and by extension the Pym family, felt like they had solid arcs told throughout the first two films and ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ it is clear that there were still plenty of stories to tell. How the Langs are going to deal with so much time having been lost as well as how the Pyms respond to returning to a world after the snap are just drops in the bucket. We still have huge mysteries surrounding Michelle Pfeiffer’s Janet Van Dyne and Hannah John-Kamen’s Ghost and what their future roles could be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, we’re learning we won’t have to wait too much longer to see what these two families are up to. Peyton Reed Signs On To Direct A Third ‘Ant-Man’ Movie

Peyton Reed has signed on to direct a third ‘Ant-Man’ solo movie. Though it isn’t confirmed at this point, it is expected that Paul Rudd will return as the titular hero, a.k.a. Scott Lang, a former crook-turned-Avenger. This third movie is reportedly planned to begin filming in late 2020, or early 2021, for a 2022 release date. Disney already announced its slate of Phase 4 films at San Diego Comic-Con this summer, which carries the studio into 2021. This is what Marvel Studios has in the pipeline for the next two years: May 1, 2020 – ‘Black Widow’ November 6, 2020 – ‘Eternals’ February 21, 2021 – ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ May 7, 2021 – ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ November 5, 2021 – ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ ‘Ant-Man 3’ joins ‘Blade’ and ‘Black Panther 2’ as part of Phase 5, but none of those has a specific production or release date lined up. ‘Hobbs & Shaw’ was the #1 movie at the box office and earned $61.5 million in its opening weekend, but some people are crying failure, as this picture had the lowest opening in the ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise since 2006’s ‘The Fast & The Furious: Tokyo Drift’. But don’t tell that to Dwayne Johnson (Hobbs). He compared this spin-off to Marvel’s ‘Ant-Man’, an offbeat mostly comedic film, which focused on a small family grouping, not the dozens of characters and galaxy-spanning super-heroics in the team-up movies. Marvel is full of fathers and on this Father’s Day, they stand in judgment. Today we rank the Dads of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Let us begin. 10. Thanos So this guy steals a kid, kills her parents and half her planet. He brainwashes her and calls her his daughter, training her to fight other stolen girls. She tends to win, which results in Thanos replacing the body parts of the loser. The upside? Thanos does actually love this daughter, just not enough to refrain from killing her to get the power needed to murder half the universe. His kids eventually want to kill him in return, which is quite the indictment of his parenting style. 9. Ego Ego was a cosmic absentee father with a homicidal twist. He impregnated women and left them to later kidnap their offspring. If the kid doesn’t share his power, he’s dead. Countdown To Endgame: MCU Movie Rankings

It’s always a fun adventure to take a list of movies and rank them. Something about the human condition makes us love rating things; from sports teams to movie stars to travel destinations. There are YouTube channels that are dedicated to this form of entertainment and, with 21 movies in the can with number 22 less than a week away, it’d be remiss of me if I didn’t join in on the fun and give you my own personal MCU movie rankings list. While some aspects of my list have changed over the years, it wasn’t difficult for me to slot these movies in their specific places. Where Endgame will ultimately end up is still up in the air but, until then, here’s my MCU favorite movies list, from first to worst. This goes without saying but…SPOILERS!!! 1. We’re less than weeks away from Avengers: Endgame’s official release and what better way to pass the time than talking about the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole? For 10 years now, the MCU has brought some of the best moments in not just comic book movie history, but big screen entertainment. More specifically, there is a plethora of moments I’d call iconic. As for how he fits in, that remains to be seen.” Rudd appeared along with the rest of the cast of this year’s biggest movie, as well as Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige, directors Joe and Anthony Russo, Jon Favreau, who helmed ‘Iron Man’ and ‘Iron Man 2’, and portrays Happy Hogan in various films. Marvel Studios has unleashed a deluge of Avenger-y goodness today! First, the studio unleashed 16 black and white ‘Avengers: Endgame’ posters, showing the faces of the heroes (and Loki) who died in ‘Avengers: Infinity War’, bearing the caption “Avenge The Fallen.” Now here come 16 more, with the same slogan, plastered over the full-color images of the surviving heroes… and a few friends. RELATED: 16 ‘Avengers: Endgame’ Posters Pay Tribute To The Fallen While the characters on the “Fallen” posters were all facing left (their right), the survivors on the new set are facing different directions. While it makes sense that the surviving Avengers, Rocket, and Nebula got posters, there are a few surprising inclusions. Kevin Feige Has A Collective Name For The First 22 Marvel Movies

Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige has declared that the 22 movies comprising their Phases 1, 2, and 3, are collectively known as ‘The Infinity Saga’. The Marvel Studios franchise makes up one of the most sprawling film epics of all time. Technically, there have been more James Bond movies– 26– but the Marvel movies are all interconnected into one over-reaching storyline, with some factoring in more heavily than others. It’s also worth pointing out that the 22 Marvel movies have all come out in just 11 years. Feige addressed the upcoming ‘Avengers: Endgame’ and compared it to other beloved cinematic sagas: “We wanted to bring to a conclusion a series of movies in a way that had never been done before. Harry Potter had an ending because there were only so many books. Lord of the Rings too. Michael Douglas Is Growing Rumors About A Third ‘Ant-Man’ Movie

` Marvel Studios has yet to officially announce a third ‘Ant-Man‘ movie but Michael Douglas has shared that “there’s been talk” about another film. The news came during a set visit for the extremely entertaining ‘The Kominsky Method’ where things, of course, turned to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is hard to be attached to the property and not get peppered with questions about it. He does say that nothing is official at this time as “they always kind of spring it on me. The first time you hear about it, it’s already in its third rewrite.” However, you can likely get your hopes up because “There’s been talk [about another Ant-Man]… [but] there’s been nothing formal right now that I know of.” Of course, the MCU likes to release these type of films in at least 3’s so far, so another outing with Douglas as Hank Pym was likely already on the unofficial release schedule. Peyton Reed Shares There Are Undiscovered ‘Ant-Man And The Wasp’ Easter Eggs

When we think of undiscovered Easter Eggs in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, most fans immediately think of James Gunn huge ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ ones, but there is another place for fans to look. According to director Peyton Reed there are quite a few from ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ which have yet to see the light of day and he is even hinting at a few of the scenes where they can be found. While it should come as no surprise that he has mentioned that the Quantum Realm has yet to reveal all of its mysteries to Eagle-Eyed viewers it seems that there are a couple of other locations that we’ll also have to be paying attention to on our next viewing of the film.
