The first major change we see is Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness being delayed about a month and a half, thus pushing the films with a following release date about the same. While this news may seem shocking, sources at Deadline claim this is not the result of any major problems, however, is the result of  the fact that”some titles are contending with finishing scenarios while others are in production.” That being said, these delays are only for the films that are scheduled to be released and appear to have no effect on the streaming series at Disney+. Below is the full recap of the Marvel release date changes that we know so far. Fortunately, the shift is minimal and we can all look forward to kicking off summer 2022 with what should be a huge hit. Marvel Release Date Changes Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness – Delayed from March 25, 2022, to May 6, 2022 Thor: Love and Thunder – Delayed from May 6, 2022, to July 8, 2022 Black […]

Created by legendary Marvel Comics powerhouses Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Kang made his first appearance in 1964 in ‘The Avengers’ comic-book series and has had a long and illustrious career of tormenting pretty much every major Marvel hero and team, including the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, the Inhumans, and the X-Men.  Here’s the character’s brief description from Wikipedia: Kang the Conqueror is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character is most frequently depicted as an opponent of the Avengers. A time-traveling entity, several alternate versions of Kang have appeared throughout Marvel’s titles over the years, including his respective future and past heroic selves, Immortus and Iron Lad. In 2009, Kang was ranked as IGN’s 65th-greatest comic book villain of all time. Starring in the as-yet-untitled […]

While much of the Lang family, and by extension the Pym family, felt like they had solid arcs told throughout the first two films and ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ it is clear that there were still plenty of stories to tell. How the Langs are going to deal with so much time having been lost as well as how the Pyms respond to returning to a world after the snap are just drops in the bucket. We still have huge mysteries surrounding Michelle Pfeiffer’s Janet Van Dyne and Hannah John-Kamen’s Ghost and what their future roles could be in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, we’re learning we won’t have to wait too much longer to see what these two families are up to. Michael Douglas was recently interviewed about the second season of his smash Netflix hit ‘The Kominsky Method,’ and it is hard for an actor not to be peppered with questions concerning the MCU if they are involved in it. Douglas didn’t say anything about ‘Ant-Man 3‘ but did confirm that it is happening […]

Scott Lang, a former crook-turned-Avenger.  This third movie is reportedly planned to begin filming in late 2020, or early 2021, for a 2022 release date.  Disney already announced its slate of Phase 4 films at San Diego Comic-Con this summer, which carries the studio into 2021. This is what Marvel Studios has in the pipeline for the next two years: May 1, 2020 – ‘Black Widow’ November 6, 2020 – ‘Eternals’ February 21, 2021 – ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ May 7, 2021 – ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ November 5, 2021 – ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ ‘Ant-Man 3’ joins ‘Blade’ and ‘Black Panther 2’ as part of Phase 5, but none of those has a specific production or release date lined up.   RELATED: Peyton Reed Shares There Are Undiscovered ‘Ant-Man And The Wasp’ Easter Eggs   Reed signed on to direct the first ‘Ant-Man’ after Edgar Wright had spent years developing the project for Marvel, but stepped away due to “creative […]

Since then, the character has been portrayed on the big screen by Halle Berry (kind of) and Anne Hathaway.  And Matt Reeves has reportedly included Catwoman in his screenplay for ‘The Batman’.  This has led to a flood of fan castings, as well as actual Hollywood actors throwing out their names for consideration. Variety asked Pfeiffer if she would be willing to […]

Johnson expressed his stance on Twitter: Thanks so much everyone! Like AntMan’s success from the Avengers – ya never know how these smaller movies splinter off from their big franchises, so this win was a big one for us. https://t.co/400q8vdgQc — Dwayne Johnson (@TheRock) August 8, 2019 Fans have been reacting positively to Johnson’s Marvel reference, with some even pointing out that he is set to play a DC character, Black Adam in an upcoming film, making his statement a little ironic. Jason Statham co-starred as Shaw, and ‘Hobbs & Shaw’ had the highest-grossing opening weekend of either Johnson or Statham’s careers, with the exception of their earlier ‘Fast & Furious’ installments.  Also, the […]

Ranking The Dads Of The Marvel Cinematic Universe https://sciencefiction.com/2019/06/14/ranking-the-dads-of-the-marvel-cinematic-universe/ https://sciencefiction.com/2019/06/14/ranking-the-dads-of-the-marvel-cinematic-universe/#disqus_thread Sat, 15 Jun 2019 00:21:50 +0000 https://sciencefiction.com/?p=328514 Marvel is full of fathers and on this Father’s Day, they stand in judgment. Today we rank the Dads of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Let us begin.   10. Thanos So this guy steals a kid, kills her parents and half her planet. He brainwashes her and calls her his daughter, training her to fight other stolen girls. She tends to win, which results in Thanos replacing the body parts of the loser. The upside? Thanos does actually love this daughter, just not enough to refrain from killing her to get the power needed to murder half the universe. His kids eventually want to kill him in return, which is quite the indictment of his parenting style.   9. Ego Ego was a cosmic absentee father with a homicidal twist. He impregnated women and left them to later kidnap their offspring. If the kid doesn’t share his power, he’s dead. If the kid does share his power, in the case of Peter Quill, he tries to kill all his friends. You can’t get much worse than this piece of work. In fact, I can think of only one (see number 10).   8. Odin With a name like Allfather you’ve […]

Something about the human condition makes us love rating things; from sports teams to movie stars to travel destinations. There are YouTube channels that are dedicated to this form of entertainment and, with 21 movies in the can with number 22 less than a week away, it’d be remiss of me if I didn’t join in on the fun and give you my own personal MCU movie rankings list. While some aspects of my list have changed over the years, it wasn’t difficult for me to slot these movies in their specific places. Where Endgame will ultimately end up is still up in the air but, until then, here’s my MCU favorite movies list, from first to worst. This goes without saying but…SPOILERS!!!   1. Infinity War It’s a rare thing for a movie to meet expectations, especially when the anticipation has been built over a decade of films. Infinity War exceeded all my expectations. From the greatness of Thanos to all the great interactions between our heroes interspersed with superior action and an emotional core that, at the end of it all, just left me […]

For 10 years now, the MCU has brought some of the best moments in not just comic book movie history, but big screen entertainment. More specifically, there is a plethora of moments I’d call iconic.   RELATED: Kevin Feige On The “Conclusion” Of A “Saga” In ‘Avengers: Endgame’   ‘Iconic’ can mean so many different things but, for me, it encompasses moments that creates its own emotional resonance that goes beyond dramatic heartache. It may be a line of dialogue, a single shot, or an entire action set piece; often these are taken from the pages of the comics that birthed these characters, but other times, they are creations of the wonderfully talented men and women responsible for bringing these larger-than-life characters to the big screen.  Trying to maintain a somewhat condensed list was a difficult process and will no doubt birth both confirmation and hearty disagreements, these are, for me, the MCU’s most iconic moments. This should go without saying but…SPOILERS!!! “I am Iron Man” (Iron Man): The movie that started […]

But if you’re concerned about missing a single second of Avenger-y goodness due to your thimble-sized bladder, fittingly, it is the smallest Avenger, Ant-Man who has the answer.  Well, more accurately, the man that plays him, Paul Rudd has the solution.   RELATED: Run Time For ‘Avengers: Endgame’ Accidently Leaked By AMC     “Pop” for the collectible ‘Avengers: Endgame’ jumbo popcorn tub!  (Although, you may not want to add it to your collection once you’re done.) As for how he fits in, that remains to be seen.” Rudd appeared along with the rest of the cast of this year’s biggest movie, as well as Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige, directors Joe and Anthony Russo, Jon Favreau, who helmed ‘Iron Man’ and ‘Iron Man 2’, and portrays Happy Hogan in various films.  Not that ‘Endgame’ needs publicity– ticket pre-sales were so intense that sales sites crashed, with some tickets now selling for thousands online. In an amusing touch, the creators and actors were scattered on stage amid an equal number of empty chairs meant to symbolize the absence of those that were turned to dust at the end of ‘Infinity War’.   RELATED: Kevin Feige On The “Conclusion” Of A “Saga” In ‘Avengers: Endgame’   While, as expected, nothing significant was revealed about ‘Endgame’– which is probably in keeping with fans’ wishes– each actor was given the spotlight to discuss their character and their place within the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe. Feige addressed the upcoming ‘Avengers: Endgame’ and compared it to other beloved cinematic sagas: “We wanted to bring to a conclusion a series of movies in a way that had never been done before.  Harry Potter had an ending because there were only so many books. Lord of the Rings too. But we thought, 22 movies in, wouldn’t it be fun to bring some finality to the storyline?” Not all of the movies directly fed into ‘Infinity War’ and ‘Endgame’.  The first Infinity Stone, the Tesseract, which turned out to be the Space Stone, first appeared in ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’.  Thanos didn’t show up until the next movie, ‘The Avengers’, and […]

The news came during a set visit for the extremely entertaining ‘The Kominsky Method’ where things, of course, turned to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is hard to be attached to the property and not get peppered with questions about it. He does say that nothing is official at this time as “they always kind of spring it on me. The first time you hear about it, it’s already in its third rewrite.” However, you can likely get your hopes up because “There’s been talk [about another Ant-Man]… [but] there’s been nothing formal right now that I know of.” Of course, the MCU likes to release these type of films in at least 3’s so far, so another outing with Douglas as Hank Pym was likely already on the unofficial release schedule. The next appearance in a Marvel film for Douglas will be in ‘Avengers: Endgame’ which he is keeping pretty tight lipped about: “You know I can’t say a word about that. According to director Peyton Reed there are quite a few from ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ which have yet to see the light of day and he is even hinting at a few of the scenes where they can be found. While it should come as no surprise that he has mentioned that the Quantum Realm has yet to reveal all of its mysteries to Eagle-Eyed viewers it seems that there are a couple of other locations that we’ll also have to be paying attention to on our next viewing of the film. According to Reed: “I think there are a couple that have not been mentioned yet. I mean, people have certainly seen the little — what appears to be a civilization in the Quantum Realm. People have seen the giant Duracell batteries. There are lots of details in Pym’s shrunken lab with these items that are found objects he’s using. There’s a lot of stuff in Hank’s lab.
