The third ‘Jurassic World’ film has not begun filming, but if you are jonesing for more dino-action, Colin Trevorrow has announced the release of ‘Battle at Big Rock’, a ‘Jurassic World’ short film that will be released on FX on September 15, which is this coming Sunday.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear that any of the movie cast will be present in the short film. Emily Carmichael (‘Pacific Rim: Uprising’) penned the script. She will also co-author the screenplay for ‘Jurassic World III’. Larry Fong (‘Kong: Skull Island’) handled cinematography, and Ami Doherty (‘Legion’) composed the score.

‘Battle at Big Rock’ stars André Holland, Natalie Martinez, Melody Hurd, and Pierson Salvador. Holland played Henry Deaver in ‘Castle Rock’ Season 1, and Matt on ‘American Horror Story: Roanoake’. Martinez stars in the upcoming Netflix series ‘The I-Land’, and portrayed Reece on ‘The Crossing’. Seven-year-old Hurd is a newcomer, but will be seen in the upcoming horror movie ‘Trick’ which stars Omar Epps, and Jamie Kennedy, and in next year’s drama ‘Fatherhood’ starring Kevin Hart, Paul Resiser, and Alfre Woodard. Fellow young actor, Salvador is a Broadway vet and appeared as Bradley on Season 1 of ‘NOS4A2’.
Trevorrow directed ‘Jurassic World’ (2015), the revival of the ’90s ‘Jurassic Park’ franchise. Trevorrow co-wrote the sequel, ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ (2018) with Derek Connolly, but the film itself was helmed by J.A. Bayona. Trevorrow will be back to direct the third movie in the franchise. Trevorrow and Connolly are co-writing the screenplay with Carmichael.
At this point, not much is known about the third ‘Jurassic World’ movie, but it is expected to star Bryce Dallas Howard, Chris Pratt, and Isabella Sermon, who was introduced as Maisie in ‘Fallen Kingdom’.
‘Battle at Big Rock’ will air on FX this Sunday night. ‘Jurassic World III’ is scheduled to arrive in theaters on June 11, 2021.
