It’s getting crowded on Isla Nublar. The third ‘Jurassic World’ movie will welcome back the franchise’s current stars Chris Pratt (Owen Grady) and Bryce Dallas Howard (Claire Dearing), plus classic ‘Jurassic Park’ actors Laura Dern (Ellie Sattler), Jeff Goldblum (Ian Malcolm), and Sam Neill (Alan Grant). Now it’s adding two new faces. Mamoudou Athie and DeWanda Wise have both been added in undisclosed lead roles. No further details were released.
Athie can currently be seen as Jerome on FXX’s ‘Cake’, and as Matt on Facebook Watch’s ‘Sorry For Your Loss’. He previously starred on Netflix’s ‘The Get Down’ and in the Netflix original movie ‘The Unicorn Store’. In January, he will be seen on the big screen in the horror film ‘Underwater’ with Kristen Stewart. He has also completed the drama film ‘Uncorked’ with Niecy Nash and Courtney B. Vance. His ‘Cake’ character, Jerome, will be featured in his own miniseries ‘Oh Jerome, No’.
Wise is best known for starring on Spike Lee’s Netflix series ‘She’s Gotta Have It’. She was also recently seen on the “Six Degrees of Freedom” episode of CBS All Access’ ‘The Twilight Zone’. She previously starred on the series ‘Underground’ and ‘Shots Fired’. In April, she will co-star with Kevin Hart in the drama ‘Fatherhood’.
Colin Trevorrow is returning to direct ‘Jurassic World 3’. His first ‘Jurassic World’ grossed $1.67 billion at the global box office, making it the sixth highest-grossing picture of all time. The second film, ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’ was directed by J.A. Bayona and wasn’t as well-received. Trevorrow will also serve as executive producer, along with Steven Spielberg and Alexandra Ferguson-Derbyshire.
In addition to Pratt, Howard, Dern, Goldblum, and Neill, BD Wong returns again as Dr. Henry Wu, and young Isabella Sermon will be back as Maisie Lockwood.
Trevorrow recently released the ‘Jurassic World’ short film, ‘Battle at Big Rock’, which was widely praised by critics and fans, which is a good sign for this third installment, which will likely be the last installment in this franchise for a few years.
Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment’s ‘Jurassic World 3’ will be released on June 11, 2021.
