Brad Pitt is returning to science fiction with ‘Ad Astra’ and the latest trailer shows that his mission is “highly classified.” Director James Gray has some great star power with Pitt involved, and it looks like he’ll be using his acting chops, and not just looks in the movie. This latest promotion for the film includes new footage and helps flesh out Pitt’s mission to learn what his father (Tommy Lee Jones) was actually up to before his death.

With hints that the character Jones plays was searching for extraterrestrial life, it feels like the movie could take an exciting turn in the third or final act if aliens are involved.

Below is the official synopsis for ‘Ad Astra’:

Astronaut Roy McBride (Brad Pitt) travels to the outer edges of the solar system to find his missing father and unravel a mystery that threatens the survival of our planet. His journey will uncover secrets that challenge the nature of human existence and our place in the cosmos.
