While Natalie Portman‘s Jane Foster was quite important to Chris Hemsworth’s Thor in his first two films, it may have been surprising to many that you haven’t heard about her having any part in ‘Thor: Ragnarok‘ or seen her in the previews. Well, Portman made no secret about how she felt her future in the films were last summer when she said that “As far as I know, I’m done, ” and that has proven to be true.

Yes, folks, for those who didn’t see the writing on the wall from her lack of presence in the previews then I might have to be the bearer of bad news by telling you that the Norse God is quite single these days. I’m sure most of the rest of the women in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe are going to be quite happy about this news, though.

According to Hemsworth:

“He’s off exploring the universe, still trying to police it and control the mayhem. But he’s certainly enjoying being a drifter, being a solo cowboy out there.”

This statement works both in how he won’t be teamed up with The Avengers at the start of this film or in a relationship. That isn’t to say he isn’t looking for love when he comes across Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie on Sakkar. Though, we don’t know yet if his attraction to her will go anywhere.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige explains:

“We wanted Thor to encounter somebody that was near his equal and that his relationship with Jane may have evolved in unexpected ways in between The Dark World and Ragnarok and we wanted to pit him against a character who was much more his equal and in many ways his superior. Valkyrie is trying to not embrace any sort of Asgardian heritage that she has. Thor thinks maybe that will create a bond between them and, on the contrary, she wants to forget it all entirely.”

While we don’t know if love will be in the air for this pair of actors when they meet on the big screen this Winter, we do know that they’ll at least be giving us some very tight action sequences if early previews are any indication.

Are you happy to hear that Jane Foster is no longer a part of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe or did you hope that she may one day take on the mantle of Thor as was done in the comic? Share your thoughts below True Believers!

‘Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok Prelude’ is scheduled to be released on October 17th, 2017.
