Taika Waititi is busy preparing to release his next film ‘Jojo Rabbit’ in October. After that, he is set to direct the soccer comedy ‘Next Goal Wins’. And then, finally, sometime next year, he will begin working on ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’. So any reports that Waititi has completed the script for ‘Love and Thunder’ are false. The director himself declared this in response to a report posted on Twitter:
Oh that’s cool!! I never cease to surprise me!

It was announced that Waititi had signed on to write and direct the fourth ‘Thor’ movie in mid-July, just before San Diego Comic-Con. Although he joked that “the title page is complete,” it’s most likely that he’s written a little bit more than that.
RELATED: Natalie Portman Returns To Marvel As The Female Thor In ‘Thor: Love And Thunder’
‘Love and Thunder’ arrives before ‘Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3’, but Thor was seen heading to the stars with the Guardians at the end of ‘Avengers: Endgame’. Before departing, Thor handed over leadership of the Asgardians to Valkyrie, their new King, and it is known that she will be a focus of ‘Love and Thunder’. At SDCC, Tessa Thompson told the audience:
“As new king (of Asgard), she needs to find her queen. That will be the first order of business.”
It is also known that Natalie Portman‘s Jane Foster will become the new female Thor (or Mighty Thor, as Waititi clarified) in ‘Love and Thunder’. That begs the question of just how Chris Hemsworth’s Thor fits into the new film. Does he even appear? At SDCC, he did appear on stage along with Waititi, Thompson, and Portman, so presumably, he plays some role, but we’ll have to wait and see how.
At any rate, here’s hoping we get another appearance by Waititi as Korg!
‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ is scheduled to open on November 5, 2021.
