Bad news for anyone who was hoping that Disney would reverse their decision on firing James Gunn. This news will surely disappoint fans as well as the cast of the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘ franchise who were hoping that Gunn has proven that he has grown up in the past decade since the original tweets had been made.
According to sources, studio chairman Alan Horn sat down with Gunn and the two spoke at length. The meeting came as Gunn and his UTA reps were trying to convince Disney to give the director a second chance. Though while it was stated to be civil and professional, Horn appears to have only taken the meeting as a courtesy to the director to clear the air on their decision.
Marvel President Kevin Feige was not in touch and unable to attend the meeting who may have pushed harder for a different outcome as it is rumored that he has been fighting to have Gunn reinstated.
At this time, it still isn’t entirely clear if Gunn’s script for the third movie is still being used. Even if it is, likely whoever is brought in to replace him as the director will make changes to make it their own. We already know that Dave Bautista claims to be leaving the franchise if Gunn’s script isn’t used so the next movie will likely give us the end of Drax on the team if he even comes back for it at this point.
Do you believe that Disney made the right decision on not changing their minds concerning bringing James Gunn back to direct ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’? Will this be the beginning of the end of the cosmic side of Marvel or will Kevin Feige be able to push Gunn’s original vision for it forward? Share your thoughts below, True Believers!
