Warner Brothers has a full slate of DC Comics movies coming over the next four years. ‘Suicide Squad’ arrives later this summer, with ‘Wonder Woman’ and ‘Justice League’ coming next year, ‘The Flash’ and ‘Aquaman’ in 2018, ‘Shazam’ and the second ‘Justice League’ in 2019 and ‘Cyborg’ and ‘Green Lantern Corps’ in 2020. Of course, they also have slots reserved for unannounced movies peppered in their schedule with several other projects rumored to be in the early stages of development.
Greg Berlanti recently announced a ‘Booster Gold’ movie was in the works. Now we may know another of these unannounced projects: ‘Lobo’.
Warner Brothers has been developing a ‘Lobo’ film for years now, but with the DC Expanded Universe officially rolling out, it seems like The Main Man’s time may have finally arrived. It was reported in March that Jason Fuchs had been brought onboard to pen the script and now it seems to be moving forward, as Fuchs has taken to Instagram to tease that he does indeed seem to be working on a ‘Lobo’ film:
For the uninitiated, Lobo is an unkillable space bounty hunter, whose adventures are usually both bloody and comical at the same time. Minus the space part, that’s pretty much the same description of Fox’s ‘Deadpool’ which is this year’s second highest-grossing movie. (It was #1 until ‘Captain America: Civil War’.) While Lobo has been around in the comics longer, ‘Deadpool’ broke new ground with its R-rating and massive success. WB might have struggled to bring Lobo to the movies before, but surely ‘Deadpool’ has given them the proper motivation to bring The Main Man to the big screen.
Are you excited that ‘Lobo’ is finally coming to theaters? Who would you like to see in the lead role?
