“I’m terrified to say anything,” Paul Rudd stammered nervously at the ‘Avengers: Endgame’ press conference. “I did see the trailer, so I do know that I’m in it. As for how he fits in, that remains to be seen.”
Rudd appeared along with the rest of the cast of this year’s biggest movie, as well as Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige, directors Joe and Anthony Russo, Jon Favreau, who helmed ‘Iron Man’ and ‘Iron Man 2’, and portrays Happy Hogan in various films. Not that ‘Endgame’ needs publicity– ticket pre-sales were so intense that sales sites crashed, with some tickets now selling for thousands online.
In an amusing touch, the creators and actors were scattered on stage amid an equal number of empty chairs meant to symbolize the absence of those that were turned to dust at the end of ‘Infinity War’.

While, as expected, nothing significant was revealed about ‘Endgame’– which is probably in keeping with fans’ wishes– each actor was given the spotlight to discuss their character and their place within the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe.
When Rudd’s time to speak arrived, the actor was clearly nervous about the tight secrecy surrounding the film. Instead, he spoke about joining the already-unfolding MCU rather late in the game, with 2015’s ‘Ant-Man’.
“Everyone is kind of echoing the same sentiment, which is this sense of completion of the story. It’s a weird thing to be hired and then to step into it as it’s already picked up speed. It’s like having the Beatles say, come on and jam with us.”
He added that he was moved by the number of people, especially children, whose “lives are affected by these characters.”
“To play a small part in that— pun intended — is something I will always treasure.”
Fans will surely treasure the film that caps the first eleven years-worth of MCU movies, ‘Avengers: Endgame’, when it arrives in theaters on April 26.
