As the director of ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming‘, Jon Watts has been let in on quite a few secrets of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and one specific one is that it has apparently been around since the beginning of time. This secret and many others have been stored in the company’s overall plan for the franchise. What is fun to think about is that they are keeping track of this to create a more cohesive world. Almost any new character who is introduced from Earth will have a memory of what has happened so far either from experience or seeing it on the news of the MCU.

The details of this were found within a secret scroll that only certain member’s of Marvel’s Elite appear to have access to:

“There’s an actual scroll that they unrolled for me. One of my producers, Eric Carroll, it was his first job at Marvel to work on a timeline and see where things line up and see where things didn’t quite line up. Like, ‘Oh, that’s when Captain America is born.'”

I’m sure this scroll is also available in digital form somewhere for those who help shape the Marvel Cinematic Universe but to get an idea of the scale of how long this is when printed out at this time?

“Uh yes, it’s very long. It’s the most amazing thing because it starts, honestly, at the beginning of time — I don’t remember specifically, but I think it has something to do with Thor. It is truly an amazing document.”

He didn’t share much more about that but did have one cool thing to say about Michael Keaton’s take on Adrian Toomes or The Vulture.

“Vulture is the first supervillain that Peter encounters in the comics. The idea of Vulture literally scavenging from the battle scenes from those other movies to build his own arsenal felt very cool.”

The idea here, of course, being that Toomes, like Hydra, was collecting alien weaponry to build himself an arsenal and that he’s done just that.
