The torch of Captain America was passed to Falcon at the end of ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ and now Anthony Mackie has confirmed that he’ll be wearing the official uniform in the Disney+ series. We already knew that he would wield the shield in ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier‘ and now it seems that he’ll also be in full costume, though for how much in the series he’ll be wearing it is still a mystery.
We didn’t get many details about the new outfit, but Mackie did share that he has been pestering Marvel Studios to let him wear spandex for seven years.

I love that, as Mackie puts it, “They came to my house. I did a fitting in my house.” Talk about taking care of your stars! Falcon as Captain America stirred up quite a controversy in the comics both with some fans and the fictional characters within the comics. It will be interesting to see if the new series and future cinematic outings of the new Captain America will be delving into the racial tension, which was a core component to this story.
As to how Mackie found out that he would be taking over as Captain America, he previously stated:
“We were shooting in Atlanta, and Chris Evans had a bunch of us over to his house to watch a football game because we all hate the Patriots and he loves the Patriots. He and I go downstairs, and he’s showing me the house, and he’s like, ‘So are you excited?’ I’m like, ‘I mean yeah, it’s gonna be a football game. I love football, I watch football every week, but I didn’t know you were this into it.’ And he’s like, ‘No, about the script. You haven’t read the scene?’ I was like, ‘No.’ So he jumps up, runs out of the room and back in with the script, and hits me with the script. He’s like ‘Page 85! Read it! Read it!’ And he sits there like a kid watching [me read it].”
