With how ‘Avengers: Endgame‘ concluded, many would think it would be a pretty obvious plot point that the next time we saw Thor or the Guardians of the Galaxy, they would be traveling together since they all left earth on the same ship at the end of film. However, the realities of Hollywood and filmmaking do not always follow that type of logic as closely as they should. Originally, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3‘ would have been the first movie of the two franchises to follow ‘Endgame,’ which would mean Thor would play some part in the final chapter of the ‘Guardians’ story. But after the disastrous firing and re-hiring of James Gunn (over the course of an 8 month period) by the overly cautious execs at Disney, ‘Guardians Vol 3’ has been delayed due to Gunn working on ‘The Suicide Squad‘ for Warner Bros/DC, meaning ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ will come out first. With ‘Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 3‘ preparing for production (release date still undecided though), many fans have been wondering if Marvel will continue the franchise following the third installment, which director James Gunn has stated will conclude the story he started in the first ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ film. While speaking on the subject recently with Collider while promoting his new film ‘My Spy,’ Drax star Dave Bautista commented on how he would like to see his character used in the future, namely with an idea from Gunn of a spin-off with Drax and Mantis. In Bautista’s words: “What I would like to do is honestly, and this is not my idea, I’m stealing this idea, but James Gunn had the idea to do a Drax/Mantis movie. And that’s what I would be up for, because there’s just too much fun there.” Bautista followed up that statement with thoughts that it was very unlikely thanks to Marvel planning out their films so far ahead of time and not really having a good slot for a Drax/Mantis movie in the next few years. ‘The Eternals has thus far proved to be one of the more mysterious and secretive of the MCU films, especially since it is set to premiere later this year and we have yet to even see a trailer. However, for some lucky fans down at Brazil’s CCXP last December, they did get to see some footage from the actual film, including many cast members in costume, including Kumail Nanjiani (who plays Kingo) in what appeared to be a Bollywood suit, which many fans became instantly curious about. Fans of the old Expanded Universe of ‘Star Wars’ (now known as the “Legacy” universe) have long known the story of Emperor Palpatine having dozens of clones of himself hidden across the galaxy, ready to rise up and take his place in the event of his death with the Dark Lord of the Sith even having figured out how to transfer his consciousness and mind from each dying body to a new clone body. So, in essence, it was always The Emperor Palpatine, just with a new form. So it was not really all that surprising when news broke that in the upcoming novelization of the film ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ it definitively states that the Emperor seen in the movie is a clone of the original Emperor. Going Solo: Harrison Ford Talks The Brief Return Of Han Solo In ‘The Rise Of Skywalker’

Whether you loved or hated ‘The Rise of Skywalker‘ (in the interest of transparency, I’ll admit I enjoyed the film), one of the highlights of the final chapter of the Skywalker Saga was the cameo by Harrison Ford as Han Solo. The scene, which marked the transition for his son from Kylo Ren back into Ben Solo and gave Ben Solo closure for everything that happened with his family, was a powerful and somewhat poignant moment in the movie, with a few memorable callbacks, and Ford bringing some real heart and gravitas to the decision by Ben Solo to return to the light side. Coupled with the fact that in the movie it was the love of his mother which sparked the apparition of Han (Leia is holding Han’s old medal while she lays in bed during this scene), and one can definitely feel the emotional weight of the moment, and forgive the film a bit if Ben Solo’s return to the light seemed a bit rush following this scene. Oh The Inhumanity: Ms. Marvel Series to Re-Introduce Inhumans To The MCU

Once upon a time in the MCU, Marvel Studios had planned to have an ‘Inhumans’ movie released sometime during phase three of their epic cinematic journey. Wanting to take advantage of that, Marvel Television began hinting around at Inhumans in ‘Agents of SHIELD’ Season 2 and onward, using a number of characters and elements from the ‘Inhuman’ comics in their own series, which seemed to ruffle some feathers over at Marvel Studios (or so the old rumors stated). So Marvel Studios canceled the ‘Inhumans’ movie and Marvel Television decided to pick up the project, choosing to do a limited TV Series instead of a movie and having it air on ABC, starting with a two-hour pilot which they would also release in IMAX to get people excited for the series. With the upcoming release of Marvel’s Black Widow‘ in May, a movie reported to take place after ‘Captain America: Civil War’ and before ‘Avengers: Infinity War,’ fans are wondering if any other movies in the upcoming Marvel slate of releases will take place in the “past” of the MCU. Between what we know about ‘Loki,’ new rumors about Wanda (aka Scarlett Witch) losing it in ‘WandaVision‘ (both shows coming to Disney+ in the future), the time travel shenanigans of ‘Endgame,’ and the title ‘Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness,’ it looks more and more likely that the MCU is building toward a multiverse created by time travel and the reality-warping powers of the Scarlett Witch. All of which begs the question, what will Doctor Strange (and audiences) encounter when the character has to deal with the ‘Multiverse of Madness’ in his sequel film? The biggest rumor was recently talked about over on the website MCU Cosmic, where they claim we will see versions of MCU characters in these alternate realities, potentially characters like Captain America or Iron Man (or others), just played by different actors since they are not from the prime MCU reality. Fans of Seth McFarlane’s ‘The Orville’ were very happy when Hulu picked up the series for Season 3, ensuring at least one more season of adventures and quips for the fan favorite crew, who had just saved and restored their timeline in the Season 2 finale. The potential for any number of variables to have changed in the process, means a lot of potential timeline changes and new adventures in Season 3. As for the reasons behind Hulu’s decision to pick up the beloved series, well it really is not all that complicated. The show apparently performed very well on the streaming service, so much so that Hulu wanted to pick it up to keep not only the original streaming audience, but also gain any new viewers who were originally watching on FOX. By picking the series, they would no longer have to split the audience with the linear network. Blood Relations: New ‘Morbius’ Trailer Reveals Connections Between Sony’s Marvel Universe And The MCU

This week saw the release of the first trailer for Sony’s ‘Morbius’ movie, the second film in their Cinematic Universe built around the extended Spider-Man universe of characters (the first being ‘Venom‘), a trailer which has a few moments that got a lot of fans very excited as it implied the film’s connection to the MCU. The first moment shows the titular Morbius (Jared Leto) walking past a spray-painted image of Spider-Man with the word “Murderer” scrawled across it, a clear connection to the hero that established that not only does Spider-Man already exist in this universe Sony is creating, but that it just might be Tom Holland’s Spider-man from the MCU, as the words “Murderer” may be the result of the fake news at the end of ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ where Mysterio posthumously frames Peter Parker for his death. Which would mean that Sony’s universe is an extension of the MCU itself and set up future movies where Spider-Man can make an appearance without having to worry about doing his origin story all over again. Defending Champions: New Rumors Suggest Marvel Studios May Already Be Working On Projects With Netflix Heroes

When Netflix and Marvel split last year and started cancelling all of the various “street-level” hero series on the streaming service, a lot of fans were saddened to see shows like ‘Daredevil,’ ‘Luke Cage,’ ‘Jessica Jones,’ Iron Fist,’ and the ‘Punisher‘ go away. And they were struck another blow when the news was released that due to a contractual clause with Netflix Marvel Studios could not use the characters for 2 years following the cancellations, meaning there was no chance that any of the Netflix/Marvel series could simply be picked up by Disney+ or Disney friendly Hulu. Now though, thanks to a rumor from the site MCU Cosmic, there’s hope we might see some of these characters return sooner than we thought. According to writer Jeremy Conrad, who claims to have a pretty solid source, Marvel Studios is already developing projects with a number of characters from the ‘Defenders,’ a limited series on Netflix that featured Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist, as well as many members of their supporting cast. There are some fans who may breathe a sigh of relief at the following news, while it might inspire a pit in the collective stomachs of many others. While dropping by ‘The Late Show With Stephen Colbert’ this week, ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ director J.J. Abrams had some interesting news to share with the host and his audience, especially since he knew Colbert is a giant ‘Star Wars’ fan (though clearly not as much as he is a Tolkien fan, but I digress). Most importantly, apparently Abrams and company had officially finished the film just that previous Sunday, meaning the final chapter of the Skywalker saga is officially “in the can” as they say, and ready for that December 20th release. For a lot of fans, news that David Benioff and DB Weiss were no longer going to be making films in the ‘Star Wars’ universe was not that much of a blow, especially for the ones who did not enjoy the direction they took and ended ‘Game of Thrones’ on. Now, thanks to Variety, there is more news about the kind of film they had been looking to make for ‘Star Wars,’ which is sure to make a large group of those fans even happier that the films are not moving forward. The Rise Of Runtime: ‘The Rise Of Skywalker’ Appears To Be Longest Film In The ‘Star Wars’ Franchise

With the release of the final trailer (and tickets) for ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’ this week, fans can expect a lot of news to be coming out about the “final” film of the main ‘Star Wars’ saga from here until December when the film is released. Today’s news comes from those ticket sales, which include information about the run time of the movie, which apparently has it currently clocking in at 155 minutes, which is 2 hours and 35 minutes, 3 minutes longer than the current record holder ‘The Last Jedi,’ which some fans already felt was a bit long (including yours truly – all that casino world nonsense could have been cut out, but I digress…). However, this being the final chapter of the main saga films, I doubt anyone will complain if J.J. Abrams and company took their time to wrap things up properly, especially considering that the movie is still shorter than say ‘Avengers: Endgame‘ which clocked in at 181 minutes (3 hours 1 min).
