‘Semper Fi’ star Nat Wolff is the latest actor to sign on for CBS All Access’ adaptation of Stephen King’s ‘The Stand’. Wolff will portray Lloyd Henreid, “a petty criminal who becomes fiercely loyal to Randall Flagg, the Dark Man” played by Alexander Skarsgård. Wolff also costars with Skarsgård in the upcoming war movie ‘The Kill Team’. Josh Boone is directing ‘The Stand’, which he co-wrote with Ben Cavell, based on King’s book, but the author himself is providing a new ending, which will surprise even those that have read the novel.
In ‘The Stand’, most of humanity has been wiped by a plague. The few survivors are caught in a war between good and evil, with Whoopi Goldberg portraying the leader of the forces of good, the 108-year-old Mother Abagail, and Skarsgård as the ultimate evil.
The cast also includes: James Marsden as Stu Redman, a military man who is immune to the plague; Amber Heard as Nadine Cross, a follower of Randall Flagg; Odessa Young as Frannie Goldsmith, a pregnant woman who realizes how evil Flagg really is; Henry Zaga as Nick Andros, a young deaf and mute man; Jovan Adepo as Larry Underwood, a once-famous musician and addict; Owen Teague, Frannie’s companion Harold Lauder, who develops an unhealthy protective relationship with her; Brad William Henke as Nick Andros’ mentally challenged companion, Tom Cullen; and Daniel Sunjata as Cobb, a military operative tasked with protecting Stu Redman. Rocker Marilyn Manson is working on music for the miniseries and will also be acting in an unknown role.
Last year, Nat Wolff co-starred with his brother Alex (‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’) and mother Polly Draper in the indie drama ‘Stella’s Last Weekend’, which Draper wrote and directed. He may also be recognized for playing Light Turner in Netflix’s adaptation of ‘Death Note’, or for the teen dramas ‘Paper Towns’ and ‘The Fault in Our Stars’. As teens, Nat and Alex Wolff starred on Nickelodeon’s ‘The Naked Brothers Band’ and performed on the accompanying soundtrack album.
‘The Stand’ is expected to arrive on CBS All Access next year.
