At last, we get our first look at Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet Van Dyne, the first Wasp, thanks to her new character poster for ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’. Janet is the wife of Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and mother of Hope (Evangeline Lilly). On a mission in the 1980s, she had to go subatomic to defuse a bomb and was lost in the Quantum Dimension and believed to be dead, until Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) also discovered the Quantum Realm in the first ‘Ant-Man’.
Life there doesn’t appear to have been smooth sailing. Janet’s Wasp costume is barely visible underneath a tan jacket, but what you can see appears to pretty battered from whatever hardships she has encountered over the years.

Regarding her reaction to the first ‘Ant-Man’ and why she chose to star in the sequel, Pfeiffer said:
“It had this great sense of humor about it and just this unusual tone. This new script has the same thing. It’s nicely written.”
While she enjoyed the first movie, she wasn’t crazy about the comic books it was based on.
“I just started reading them, and I’m having a really hard time. There’s so much information on a page, and it’s not linear. When I’m skim reading them it’s difficult to know that this part comes after that and who is talking in what bubble.”
Of course, the Quantum Realm isn’t the setting for the entire movie. As we know from the trailers, Ant-Man and the Wasp will be battling a new villain who uses Hank Pym’s technology for evil, the Ghost played by Hannah John-Kamen.
The cast also includes David Dastmalchian, Laurence Fishburne, Abby Ryder Fortson, Walton Goggins, Judy Greer, Joshua Mikel, Randall Park, Michael Peña and T.I.
As for Paul Rudd’s reaction to meeting and working with Pfeiffer and once more working with Douglas, Paul Rudd said:
“And it was really cool to see Michelle Pfeiffer and Michael Douglas just on set. And I’d look over and go, ‘Oh, my god. Legends. So they’re both really lovely people and it was a thrill to get to work with them.”
Directed by Peyton Reed, ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp’ is due in theaters on July 6, 2018.
