Carl Weathers entered the “Star Wars” universe thanks to Disney+’s ‘The Mandalorian‘ and his inclusion won’t be limited to a single season. The actor, who plays the leader of the bounty hunter’s guild Greef Carga, will be returning for the sophomore outing where we’ll learn more about this mysterious character.
The news came from Weathers during an interview with Games Radar‘s sister publication SFX:
“I think [Greef’s backstory] is more saved for season two. But you get some glimpses at Greef and who he is through the stories in the first season. There’s some real strong indications that give you some idea of who he is. But we never let on completely.”
So, we now have confirmation that Weathers’ character not only survives but will have an impact going forward. Only a few episodes in and we’ve seen Greef Carga both help and hinder the efforts of Pedro Pascal’s character. This morally flexible character is someone who the actor enjoys playing:
“It’s much more interesting to play someone who is not all of one thing – not one-dimensional. Also, it opens it up to stories later on that can reveal much more about this character. Certainly, with Greef, you have to really keep your eye on him.”
In a way, I almost feel like Greef could be compared to Lando Calrissian in some aspects. We’ll see if he ends up continuing to be The Mandalorian’s foe as the series progresses or if the two get over this hiccup in their relationship and return working together once more.
