The Falcon And The Winter Solider
Marvel Studios/Disney+

We have known that ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ was set to arrive sometime this year, but a year is a long time.  Now at least we have a smaller ballpark to play in.  According to a report on Deadline (about Noah Mills joining that cast), it was subtly stated that ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ will arrive in August.

It was previously announced that ‘WandaVision’ had been bumped to “late 2020” after originally being slotted for Spring 2021.

Now that ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 1 has ended, there is a clear lack of original programming on Disney+ for older subscribers.  ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ and ‘Cassian Andor’ are not expected to arrive until 2021.  It seems as though ‘The Mandalorian’ S2 will also arrive sometime in the fall/winter.  So it looks as though older viewers will have to wait out the majority of the year, but come late summer, there will be a steady parade of shows.  At the very least, there is the new seventh and final season of ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ which arrives on February 21.  Even though it is animated, this series has always had an older fanbase, so at least that’s one thing to look forward to.

‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ was developed by Malcolm Spellman, who serves as head writer, while Kari Skogland is set to direct all six episodes.  The cast includes Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/The Falcon and Sebastian Stan as James Buchanon “Bucky” Barnes/ The Winter Soldier, reprising their roles from the movies.  Also returning from the movies are Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter/ Agent 13, and Daniel Brühl as bad guy Helmut Zemo.  Wyatt Russell joins the cast as John Walker, also known as the Super Patriot and later the U.S. Agent, while Adepero Oduye, Desmond Chiam, and Miki Ishikawa are known to be part of the cast, although their roles are unknown.
