During 20th Century Fox’s Hall H panel at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, some major bombs were dropped. Arguably the biggest one was the ‘Deadpool’ trailer, but there was some juicy new information about Bryan Singer’s ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ also. Prior to the panel, the director revealed the first look at Oscar Isaac as En Sabah Nur AKA the almighty Apocalypse, but when the ball got rolling at the con, we learned about the villain’s most powerful followers known as the Four Horsemen.

Created by Louise and Walt Simonson in 1987 and named after the biblical Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, the principal warriors of the iconic X-Men foe nicknamed Famine, War, Pestilence, and Death have featured a rotating cast of characters over the years. Wolverine, Gambit, Banshee, Sunfire, Polaris, and even the Hulk have all found a place among Apocalypse’s minions at one time or another, but when the group makes their cinematic debut next year, we’ll see a number of new additions as revealed by Isaac during the X-Men portion of Fox’s panel. While answering moderator Chris Hardwick’s question about his character in the upcoming film, the actor mentions Psylocke, Angel, Storm, and Magneto in passing as allies. In the video below at around 13:15, you can hear Isaac’s exact answer:

This reveal was further confirmed when Ben Hardy and Alexandra Shipp took the mic and talked about how their characters are lost and looking for their places in life. However, we basically knew that these two would be Horsemen already thanks to some concept art that was previously released featuring the badass design for Hardy’s Angel and Cyclops shooting an optic blast at a figure that looks like Shipp’s Storm. Michael Fassbender’s Magneto isn’t so surprising, but that may be because I’ve seen it in the ‘X-Men: Evolution’ cartoon, but Psylocke should be an interesting addition to the group, especially after hearing about all the preparation Olivia Munn is putting into it.

What do you think about the Four Horsemen in ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’? Do the characters being included in this version of the group surprise you? Let us know in the comments.

‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ opens in theaters on May 27, 2016.
