With her amazing final performance in ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi,‘ it only hurts so much more to remember that today is the first anniversary of the tragic death of Carrie Fisher. While fans have always followed her work, thanks to director Rian Johnson being so open about his new film, we’ve learned a slew of new details as well. For example, Fisher was responsible for many of her iconic lines in the film. We were also able to tear up at the end of the film with her last tribute which stated that The Last Jedi was “In Loving Memory of our Princess Carrie Fisher”.
While ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’ was supposed to be her moment to shine in the current trilogy, one can hardly fault any of her work in her final installment where she stole every scene that she was in.
The loss of Fisher will be felt by many for years to come.
Mother. Daughter. Broken. Strong. Princess. General. Idol. Icon.
Words can’t express what everyone is really feeling though as her co-star and friend Mark Hamill took to Instagram to share a small but emotional tribute to Fisher:
A great shot at Fisher, a promotional shot of the two during the original Star Wars run, and a final tribute shot of the two working together one last time on ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’.
This isn’t the first time Mark Hamill has shared a touching tribute to the late actress when he previously mentioned that she “took our collective breath away” and was “OUR Princess.”
Her work as Princess Leia and later being promoted to a General was not only iconic but helped shaped the lives of many fans for generations.
May the Force be with you Carrie Fisher, Always!
