I was around then and yes they were extremely good I just didn’t really think the new one was as great as it could have been and a little worried in the direction it might go I want to see a good story but the directors are to busy wanting to push everyday politics on people to try and steer there minds instead of a good Sci Fi story and film. I have to agree with you when Stars Wars first came out it was incredible.

Better than the prequels – hell yes! but better than the OT? Never. To truly appreciate the OT, you had to be alive during the time they came out. They weren’t just a change in the way movies were done, they started a cultural shift from outright negativity to hoping for our future – especially to those born between the late 60’s to early 70’s (like me).
Everyone should watch the documentary “empire of dreams”. It really outlines how much Star Wars changed when it first came out.
That being said, I’m excited for the futures of both franchises.
