At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con 2019, we learned quite a bit about ‘Star Trek: Picard’ and one fun detail is that Patrick Stewart will once again be donning his Star Fleet uniform. This is important because the actor initially stressed that he didn’t want to wear it again for this outing but realized for the story to work, he would have to put it on at least once. However, with Jean-Luc Picard no longer being part of Star Fleet during the course of the series, we do know that he’ll only be in uniform due to a flashback sequence.
Yes, this does confirm that the show will have at least one flashback and I suspect that there will be multiple ones on top of this.

According to the actor:
“I did strongly make the point that I did not want to be in a uniform…at all… And I have just made myself look slightly foolish by insisting that in the end of next week’s [filming] work, I will be in a uniform… Because it’s a flashback and I said ‘in order for this to have the right kind of context, I need to be in a uniform'”
It isn’t clear if this will be the only flashback or if we could also see Picard in different eras of his life from his time as a Captain of the Stargazer or between leaving Star Fleet and where the new series picks up at.
